Imo State’s political terrain is shifting. In Owerri Zone, the call is no longer just for participation, but for purposeful leadership-the kind that turns potential into progress. It is here that Prince Alex Mbata emerges as a figure of renewed hope and grounded vision for Owerri East senatorial district.

Owerri Zone needs no introduction. The capital city, a hub of culture, commerce, and learning, it boasts of rich human and natural capital. Yet the zone wrestles with familiar shadows. The zone aspires to be more prosperous in all consciousness. It clamours for a new representation, a new voice that will transform speeches into actions, facing the needs of the moment head-on. The people demand a leadership that puts people above politics. Prince Mbata is only the one among the lot that has been apprised and recommended not because of political convenience but because of the clarity of his vision, the honesty of his mission, records of his personal achievements and provable community services. He has capacity, competence and integrity to hold the trust and deliver on the mandate.

Representation is the heartbeat of democracy. It is not about occupying office, but about listening deeply, acting boldly, and serving faithfully. John Quincy Adams captured it well: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” For many, Mbata fits that mold-a leader measured not by speeches, but by the lives he touches. He is a man who believes that beyond the homiletic fiery of daily political rhetorics, the main issue is service deliveries to the people and communities in verifiable tracks and records.

His appeal at the grassroots is simple: he is ever present. To him, authentic representation amplifies the governed. It converts market-day complaints into policy and collective dreams into concrete results. As the political theorist Hanna Pitkin puts it, representation means acting in the interest of the represented, in a manner responsive to them. That is the standard. This is the Mbata vision. It is his mission guide.

He does not believe that prosperity comes by accident. To him, it must be worked for and earned. For him, Owerri Zone must invest with intent-in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and youth enterprise. With him, the future belongs to societies that unlock the brilliance of their young people. Like Nelson Mandela said: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Mbata aligns with Mandela’s view in appreciating the fact that to build a zone, we must first build its people. This explains his vast supports to government efforts in road constructions, provisions of quality employment opportunities for the youths, care for the aged and sick, as well as efforts to assist small scale business owners, education and skills acquisition by the youths.

He understands also that unity is equally urgent for the people to achieve their collective aspirations. In this regard, he has, together with other patriotic sons and daughters of the zone, provided platform for the pursuit of a common goal through the establishment of Owerri Zone United. Mbata understands that our diversity is strength only when governance includes all. Strong leadership builds bridges, not camps, and weaves a shared purpose from many voices. Lincoln’s words endure in this regard, “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Mbata as a leader holds this promise in trust.

Another the thing he considers essentially sacrosanct is accountability. This he believes, seals the deal. He strongly reasons that representation without transparency is mere theatre of delusion. Citizens must be informed, engaged, and able to demand results. Trust is the currency of effective governance. Mbata has it in surplus.

Prince Alex Mbata embodies service, development, and inclusion. His rise mirrors a wider hunger for leaders who do not observe the people’s struggles from a distance, but walk with them toward solutions. Building a greater Owerri Zone for him, is covenant work-shared by a leader like him and citizens alike.

The task ahead is clear. It demands leader who is visionary yet grounded, bold yet answerable. In Mbata, many see what happens when commitment meets purpose.

The hope is plain: that representation becomes transformation-delivering real change, real progress, and real prosperity to every ward, every street, every home in Owerri Zone.

This is the Mbata vision. His mission, and the results he seeks to deliver. He doesn’t talk it as a demagogue. He is pragmatic and practical about it. His track records show this.
