My Remarks As Part Of Our Engagements
Fellow Nigerians, members of the Obidient Movement, members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, and members of our great NDC family,
It is with great honour that I join our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, at this Presidential Rally Series through an online social media platform.
In my remarks, I urge all our supporters across the 36 states and the FCT to mobilize peacefully and in strict compliance with the Electoral Act 2022, and all INEC laws and guidelines. Our movement is a peaceful movement. We must promote grassroots participation at the ward, local government, and state levels, and continue to promote the ideology and philosophy of His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi and His Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso – an ideology built on prudence, accountability, production over consumption, and human capital development.
Through every gathering that brings together citizens for an open conversation on the issues that matter most to Nigerians and the future of our country, we are rebuilding Nigeria.
Today, I have the honour to present what His Excellency Peter Obi has said he will do if elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027, alongside the vision of His Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
THE OBI-KWANKWASO 7-POINT AGENDA FOR A NEW NIGERIA
1. From Consumption to Production:
His Excellency Peter Obi has pledged to move Nigeria from a consumption economy to a production-based economy. This includes reviving the agricultural sector in Benue, Niger, and Kebbi states, supporting SMEs with single-digit interest loans through the Bank of Industry, and making Nigeria a net exporter again [Peter Obi Manifesto, 2023].
2. Human Capital and Education Revolution – The Kwankwaso Model:
Drawing from Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s proven record in Kano State (2011-2015) where he sponsored over 2,000 Kano indigenes for foreign postgraduate studies and established two state universities, our joint government will declare a state of emergency in education. We will increase education funding to 15% of the national budget in line with UNESCO recommendations and replicate the free school feeding and free examination forms policy nationwide [Premium Times, 2014; Kwankwasiyya Development Report].
3. Economic Prudence and Cutting Cost of Governance:
His Excellency Peter Obi has committed to cutting the cost of governance by 40%, reducing MDAs overlap, ending petrol subsidy corruption through transparent accounting, and ensuring that borrowed funds are tied to productive ventures. Under his tenure as Governor of Anambra State (2006-2014), he left over N75 billion in savings and investments, a record verified by Anambra State Financial Records [Anambra State Government Handover Note, 2014].
4. Security and Rule of Law:
We will secure Nigeria through robust community policing, proper funding and training for our armed forces, and investment in security technology. Nigeria has lost over 50,000 lives to insecurity between 2019 and 2025 [SBM Intelligence Security Report, 2025]. This will end.
5. Healthcare for All:
His Excellency Peter Obi plans to upgrade primary healthcare centres across 774 LGAs and implement a National Health Insurance scheme that covers the informal sector, inspired by Kwankwaso’s Kwankwasiyya free maternal health program that reduced maternal mortality in Kano by over 30% [Kano State Ministry of Health, 2014].
6. Youth Employment and Technology:
We will create 10 million new jobs in four years through support for tech startups, agriculture value chains, and a national apprenticeship program. Nigeria has over 60% youth unemployment according to NBS Q1 2024 data. We will turn that youth population into an asset.
7. True Federalism and National Integration:
We will promote unity in diversity. The Obi-Kwankwaso ticket represents a true bridge – South-East/South-South and North-West – demonstrating that Nigeria’s unity is our greatest strength.
CONCLUSION
Fellow Nigerians, the World Bank estimates that with proper management, Nigeria’s economy can grow at 7-8% annually [World Bank Nigeria Development Update, 2023]. The choice in 2027 is clear.
We are not campaigning with violence. We are campaigning with data, with records, and with hope.
Let us go to every polling unit, every ward, every street, and preach this message peacefully.
Nigeria will be OK!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
God bless His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi.
God bless His Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
