Celebration Of Life In Death

DR. RIGHTEOUSMAN ERHABOR

He returned my guitar in the evening, died the next morning, and the people cried.

A star was lost in space on the 6th of July 1998, on my wife’s very special birthday.

Just at the peak of the rising sun, the morning light faded so fast from the horizon. Within two hours of the breaking news of his passing, he became far more popular in death than in life; his promoters and record sellers made more money than when he was alive.

He was young, but with a voice that could raise the dead. He was loved by the majority, but his death remains a mystery. Even the Oba of the land had to lay a curse on whoever had a hand in the untimely death of Chris ID.
He stood out as one of the best voices and composers my birthplace ever produced.

Sadly, I was still editing his last video, and he never got to watch it before he went to paradise to join the heavenly choir. He must be there! I believe he is!

In the heat of the dilemma surrounding his death, a music promoter I have so much respect for told me to my face: ‘Righteousman, your music is good but you are not making waves as you should. Why not die so the people can celebrate you more?’ He said it jokingly, but I never knew him to be a comedian. It wasn’t the voice of love speaking. So, I said to him, ‘Bros! It is better for me to be alive and well than to die for the sake of popularity.

Years have gone by, and I am still alive, making good music. I don’t really know if I am popular, but people still recognize and hail me by my name when I do my brisk walk exercise.

Why must people die to be celebrated? Why do we extravagantly flaunt our wealth during funerals when we did not drop a dime when the deceased was alive, bedridden, and needed help the most? Why buy an expensive dress to bury the dead when you did not buy them the cheapest clothes when they were alive? Why spend millions on a casket when you allowed the landlord to throw their things out of their one-room apartment?

My friend, no matter what you face today, do not listen to any voice that tries to persuade you to do anything just for money or popularity. Wait for your time, and remain prayerful as you work towards your goals. One day… just one day, your time will come, and the world will stand for you in celebration.

To everything in life, there is an appointed time.

I pray for you today that in this season, God will make you the reason for the celebration. May He keep you alive in good health and cause even those who wish you evil to congratulate you, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Ecclesiastes 3:11 says:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
