Amb Comrade Ibe Commends 2 Rivers Assembly Members & Asks Others To Drop Impeachment Move 

The President General of respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe, has highly commended Hon. Sylvanus Enyinna Nwankwo, Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, alongside Hon. Peter Abbey, member representing Degema Constituency for appealing to their fellow lawmakers to halt impeachment proceedings against the Governor and Deputy Governor of the State. 

 

In a statement on Tuesday, 13th January, 2026, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe said, “I wish to excitedly commend Hon. Sylvanus Enyinna Nwankwo, Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, alongside Hon. Peter Abbey, member representing Degema Constituency, for appealing to other Rivers State lawmakers to exercise restraint and halt the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the Executive Governor and Deputy Governor of the state”.

 

“The two legislators have displayed the true spirit of the Rivers people. I therefore, urge the other lawmakers to de-escalate tensions and embrace dialogue in handling the sensitive political situation for the interest of our people.”

“The Assembly members are the elected representatives of the our people and the overall interest of Rivers State must take precedence over partisan considerations. I believe that the emergency rule, which lasted for six months, was enough time for reflection and reconciliation for all the parties.”

“The peace and development of our State should remain the focal point for all. Our state must move forward and I therefore, make a passionate appeal to the other Honourable Members of the State Assembly especially the ones from the Orashi region, to sheath their swords, adopt a peaceful approach and resolve the differences with the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and move Rivers State forward. In the atmosphere of peace, Rivers State will attain enviable heights in development.”
