The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has congratulated Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji on his well-deserved re-election as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Ogun State Chapter.

In a congratulatory message, Senator Yayi described the re-election as a clear testament to the confidence and trust that members of the association have in Ogunsiji’s leadership, commitment, and capacity to advance sports journalism in the state.

“I heartily congratulate Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji on your well-deserved re-election as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Ogun State Chapter,” he said.

Senator Yayi noted that the decision of SWAN members to entrust Ogunsiji with a second term was not just an endorsement of his personality, but also a recognition of the modest but impactful successes recorded during his first tenure.

“Your re-election is a resounding vote of confidence in the progress you recorded during your first term. Under your leadership, the Ogun State chapter of SWAN has continued to project professionalism, promote sports development, and strengthen the relationship between sports stakeholders and the media,” the APC Governorship Candidate stated.

He commended members of the association for conducting a peaceful and rancour-free election, which he said reflects the maturity and democratic culture within SWAN.

The Ogun West Senator urged the re-elected chairman and the newly inaugurated executive committee to build on the gains already made and remain united in purpose.

“I urge you and your team to continue to champion initiatives that will further develop sports as a catalyst for youth empowerment, economic growth, and social cohesion in Ogun State,” Senator Yayi said.

He assured the new SWAN leadership of his continued support for programmes that promote sports development and empower young talents across the state.

Senator Yayi also pledged that his administration, when elected in 2027, will work closely with SWAN and other stakeholders to reposition the sports sector in Ogun State.

“By the grace of God, when we assume executive responsibility in Ogun State in 2027, my administration will work closely with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Ogun State Chapter, and other critical stakeholders to galvanize the sports sector, unlock its immense economic potential, develop world-class sporting infrastructure, and create opportunities for our talented youths to excel,” he added.

He wished Comrade Ogunsiji and his team a successful, impactful, and fulfilling tenure.
