The Orashi National Congress, ONC, has announced the launch of a nationwide campaign for violence-free and politically tolerant 2027 general elections.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026, and signed by its President General, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the group said the campaign is aimed at promoting peace, civic responsibility and tolerance ahead of the polls.
According to the statement, the campaign will be anchored on four pillars:
1. Civic Education and Peacebuilding
2. Dialogue and Political Tolerance
3. Community Monitoring and Early Response
4. Partnership and Inclusive Participation
The ONC called on political actors, stakeholders and the general public to embrace peaceful engagement and ensure that the 2027 elections are contested with ideas, not violence.
“Together, we can build a future where elections are contested with ideas, not violence,” the statement added.
