Ondo State Participates In Pre-Council Zonal Technical Consultative Meeting On Women Affairs And Social Development

In furtherance of the commitment of the Ondo State Government to promoting inclusive governance, social protection, and sustainable development, the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development participated in the Pre-Council Zonal Technical Consultative Meeting and Policy Sensitization organized ahead of the 2026 Regular National Council on Women Affairs and Social Development.
The meeting was convened to sensitize states on the implementation priorities and expected deliverables for the Gender and Women Affairs sub-sector, in line with the National Development Plan (2026–2030) and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The consultation also introduced participants to the theme of the 2026 Regular National Council on Women Affairs and Social Development: *”Strengthening Families and Advancing the Care Economy for Inclusive Development: Operationalizing Nigeria’s Renewed Social Protection Architecture.”*
Discussions centered on the need for states to align their policies and programmes with national priorities that strengthen families, promote gender equality, enhance child protection, and expand social protection systems. The meeting also highlighted key policy frameworks being advanced by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, including:
* National Crèche Policy;
* National Adoption Policy;
*  National Orphanage Policy;
* Policy on the Development of the Boy Child;
* Safe Referral Guidelines; and
* Guidelines for Children’s Homes.
 Participants equally received technical guidance on developing quality memoranda for the National Council and strengthening interventions in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, social inclusion, child rights, skills acquisition, and volunteer empowerment.
The participation of Ondo State at the consultative meeting reflects the unwavering commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to the implementation of the OUR EASE Agenda, particularly its focus on social welfare, human capital development, and the protection of women, children, and other vulnerable groups. It also underscores the resolve of the Aiyedatiwa led administration to position Ondo State at the forefront of innovative policy development, strategic collaboration, and the effective implementation of programmes that improve the lives of women, children, families, and vulnerable persons across the state.
Through active participation in national policy engagements such as this, the Ministry remains committed to ensuring that Ondo State continues to adopt global best practices, contribute meaningfully to national policy formulation, and strengthen social development initiatives that foster inclusive growth and sustainable development for all. Representing Ondo State at the  Pre-Council Zonal which event were The Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye and  Director, PR&S, Mr Oladeji.
