The Orashi National Congress, ONC, a notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, has announced the indefinite suspension of its Provost, Comrade Believe Ene, over alleged failure to adhere to the constitutional duties of his office.
In a statement issued by the leadership of the Congress, ONC said the disciplinary action followed repeated warnings to Comrade Ene to align his conduct with the objectives and constitution of the organization.
According to the ONC, Comrade Ene’s continued refusal to abide by the responsibilities attached to the office of Provost left the leadership with no option but to act in order to preserve discipline and order within the Congress.
“This indefinite suspension comes after repeated warnings to abide by the conduct of his position in line with the objectives of the Congress,” the statement read.
The Congress noted that the role of the Provost is critical to maintaining decorum and adherence to ONC’s guiding principles during meetings and official functions.
The leadership further disclosed that a memo has been issued to the suspended Provost, giving him a 24-hour ultimatum to appear before the ONC House to explain his actions.
“Failure to appear within the stipulated time will attract further disciplinary action, including possible expulsion from the Congress,” the statement added.
The President General of ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, reiterated that the Congress remains committed to upholding its values of unity, accountability, and service to Orashi land and the Niger Delta at large.
“The ONC, as ably led by Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, will continue to uphold the values and objectives of the Congress. No individual, no matter how highly placed, is above the constitution of this organization,” Amb. Ibe stated.
He urged all members to remain steadfast and to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the ideals of the ONC.
The Congress said it will issue further updates after the House deliberates on the matter.
