The ONC PG, Amb. Emeni Ibe, who spoke shortly after the distribution exercise, lauded the government’s efforts and called on the affected Local Government Chairmen to ensure equitable sharing of the relief materials to all victims.

Ambassador Ibe said, “I must strongly commend our amiable Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for his continous display of genuine concern to the welfare of the people of Rivers State. He has always put the interest of Rivers people first. He must also be commended for the strong support he has given the Flood Committee headed by Her Excellency Prof Ngozi Odu”.

“I must not fail to equally applaud the Flood Committee for being passionate and displaying high sense of commitment to the task assigned to them by the Governor. They have gone about their assignment seemlessly while bringing succour to our people affected by the recent flooding.”

“I hereby plead with the Local Government authorities to ensure fair and equitable distribution of the relief materials to the affected residents. I pleaded with Oyigbo people to remain calm and refrain from any form of protest, and today the relief materials got to them. They should therefore, be appreciative of Government’s efforts to ameliorate the situation as Gov Fubara is genuinely concerned about the people and the Committee is working round the clock to ensure that our people get the needed succour.”
