The Labour Party candidate for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon. Anthony Ikenna Okafor, is set to officially flag-off his campaign for the 2027 general elections.
According to the Nnewi-born entrepreneur and politician, the flag-off ceremony has been slated for Saturday, September 12, 2026.
In line with the saying that “charity begins at home”, Hon. Okafor said he will begin the campaign from his father’s country home at Egbu Umuenem, Nnewi, between 2pm and 4pm.
The choice of venue, he noted, reflects his roots and commitment to grassroots mobilization as the foundation of his bid to represent the federal constituency.
The campaign launch is expected to draw a large turnout of his teeming supporters, constituents, members of Umunna, Umuenem families, friends, associates and political stakeholders from across the three local government areas.
Hon. Okafor said the event will also serve as an opportunity to formally present his vision and agenda to the people ahead of the polls.

Speaking ahead of the flag-off, the Labour Party candidate said his decision to run is driven by the need for people-centered representation that prioritizes youth empowerment, small businesses, infrastructure, and quality healthcare in Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo.
“As an entrepreneur, I understand the challenges facing our people, especially our traders, artisans and young graduates. My mandate, if given, will be to attract real development and give our constituency a strong voice at the National Assembly,” he stated.
He called on constituents to come out en masse for the flag-off, describing it as the beginning of a movement to reposition the federal constituency.
The September 12 event is expected to set the tone for LP’s mobilization across the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
