OLALEKAN ONI

In a continued demonstration of his administration’s commitment to responsive governance and sustainable infrastructure, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), has commenced critical intervention works on Oluwaleyimu Street.
The project includes the construction of a box culvert, desilting of existing drainage channels, repair of failed drainage sections, and the patching of defective portions of the road. This intervention is designed to address perennial flooding, improve vehicular movement, and enhance the overall environmental condition of the area.
Speaking on the development, Comrade Dauda emphasized that the initiative is a direct reflection of his administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda, particularly its focus on Infrastructure development, Environmental sustainability, and Job creation through local engagement.
According to him, “Oluwaleyimu Street is strategic to the movement of residents and businesses within Ikeja. The intervention we are carrying out is not just about fixing a road; it is about improving livelihoods, ensuring safety, and reinforcing our commitment to a cleaner, more functional Ikeja”.
He further noted that the desilting exercise will ensure free flow of water across drainage channels, thereby reducing the risk of flooding, while the construction of the box culvert will provide a durable solution to water passage challenges in the area.
Residents of Oluwaleyimu Street have expressed appreciation to the Council Chairman for the timely intervention, noting that the project will significantly ease transportation and improve sanitation within the community.
This project is one of several ongoing infrastructure and environmental initiatives under the AKOD administration, all geared towards delivering the dividends of democracy and making Ikeja a model Local Government in Lagos State.
