Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, has rewarded her former grassroots coach, Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa, with a new Toyota Highlander in appreciation of his contribution to her football career.
The Nigerian international presented the vehicle to Orobosa, the founder, chairman, and head coach of FC Robo International, recognising his role in discovering and nurturing her talent during her formative years.
FC Robo International announced the gesture in a statement on Thursday, November 5, 2026, praising the six-time African Women’s Player of the Year for remembering the people who contributed to her rise in football.
According to the club, Orobosa has been instrumental in Oshoala’s development since 2009, when she began attracting attention for her football abilities as a teenager.
The club described the presentation of the Toyota Highlander as a remarkable demonstration of gratitude, noting that the coach provided guidance, support, and an environment that helped the forward pursue her football ambitions.
“Your presentation of a Toyota Highlander to Coach Osahon is a beautiful demonstration of gratitude and a reminder that you have not forgotten the people who played important roles in your journey,” FC Robo stated.
The club also recalled Oshoala’s previous contribution, particularly her donation of a bus during her early years in Europe, describing the latest gesture as evidence of her continued connection to her roots.
Oshoala’s relationship with her former coach dates back to when she faced opposition from her parents over her decision to pursue football professionally.
Growing up in Lagos, she initially struggled to secure her parents’ approval, as they preferred that she concentrate on her education.
Her grandmother, however, encouraged her to continue pursuing her football dreams.
In a 2023 interview with BBC Sport, the former Barcelona forward revealed the difficulties she encountered while trying to convince her family to support her ambitions.
Orobosa also reportedly visited her family to persuade her parents to allow her to pursue a career in football.

Oshoala began her organized football career at FC Robo in 2009 before moving to Rivers Angels in 2013.
Her impressive performances subsequently earned her a move to English club Liverpool in 2015.
She later featured for Arsenal, Chinese side Dalian Quanjian, and Spanish giants Barcelona, where she enjoyed a successful spell, winning several domestic titles and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
After leaving Barcelona, she joined American side Bay FC in 2024 before moving to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in September 2025.
At international level, Oshoala has established herself as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished footballers, representing the Super Falcons at multiple FIFA Women’s World Cups and Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
She has won the CAF African Women’s Player of the Year award a record six times and became the first African woman to score at three different editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
