Buruj Sports Academy has announced a contract extension for Obiora Jacob Iyida, a 14-year-old attacker, under the Academy’s Football and Education Programme.
The extension secures Obiora’s continued development at the Academy as he balances secondary school education with elite football training.
A native of Enugu State, Obiora joined Buruj Sports Academy as an SS1 Commercial Class student. Since then, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication, discipline, and steady development both in the classroom and on the pitch.
Following the contract extension, Obiora will progress from SS1 to SS2 in the next academic session while continuing to benefit from the Academy’s structured Football and Education Programme.
“Obiora represents the values we teach at Buruj — hard work, discipline, and focus on both books and football,” the Academy said.
Coaches describe Obiora as one of the Academy’s brightest attacking prospects. He has earned recognition for his pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability, and has become a consistent performer in training and matches.
His impressive performances have also earned him international recognition. Obiora is among the players whose United Kingdom (UK) visa and travel documents have been approved for the upcoming UK Football Summer Camp. The trip will give him valuable international training and exposure with coaches and players abroad.
With ambition firmly set on representing Nigeria, Obiora is targeting a Nigeria U-15 National Team call-up as he continues to work towards his football dreams.
