Title: The Cornerstone and the Principle of Sowing and Reaping
By Emmanuel Peter Adayehi
With respect to His Excellency Peter Obi, the record of his service as Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014 deserves a review based on documents, not noise. Yesterday, his 2014 handover report was again made public, dated March 17, 2014 and addressed to his successor Willie Obiano. According to the published report, as of close of business March 14, 2014, Anambra had Local Investments of N27 billion, Foreign Currency Investment of $156 million valued at N26.5 billion, Certified State/MDAs Balances of N28.17 billion and an FGN Approved Refund of N10 billion, for a NET BALANCE of N86.6 billion after liabilities [Source 1: Vanguard].
Obi himself went further in 2014, displaying certified bank statements dated March 27, 2014 showing balances across Fidelity, Diamond, First Bank, Access and others [Source 2: Punch/Vanguard]. No court in Nigeria has convicted him of stealing public funds as governor. In any fiscal debate, including the recent exchanges with Governor Charles Soludo, that documented evidence must remain the standard – even as the current Anambra government counters that eight external loans from that era still had a $92.35m balance as of June 2026.
There is a scripture that captures this moment: “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone” Psalm 118:22.
And there is a second principle: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” – Galatians 6:7.
What you sow, you reap. This is a caution for the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
When politics becomes personal and relentless, it creates a cycle that is difficult to break. Nigerians are openly discussing what a future era of accountability could look like. In that citizen conversation, names like Omoyele Sowore and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are being mentioned as symbols of a tougher stance on public accountability.
This is not a threat. It is a reflection of democratic reality. Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians. Leadership must be inclusive, just, and respectful of all its industrious peoples, including traders in Lagos and Port Harcourt who feel their livelihoods are under pressure. Nigeria must choose its cornerstone wisely.

Notes: Should Peter Obi appoints Sowore as EFCC Chairman.
Context:
– Peter Obi as: Pesident in 2027, known for prudence and anti-corruption stance.
– Omoyele Sowore: An activist, founder of Sahara Reporters, former presidential candidate, known for fearless investigative journalism and anti-corruption activism.
– EFCC: Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – Nigeria’s main anti-graft agency.
Arguments FOR the idea:
– To bring credibility on Anti-Corruption: Sowore has built his career exposing corruption, no record of being part of the political class accused of looting.
– Sowore fearlessness: an as EFCC as Chairman Sowore will be seen as someone who would not be loyal to any godfather and would pursue all sides.
– Youth and Civil Society Appeal: Are already appealing the appointment of Sowore as EFCC Chairman to energize young Nigerians, activists, and the Obidient movement who see both men as outsiders.
– Sowore with Media and Investigative Skills: His background in investigative reporting aligns with intelligence gathering needed for EFCC.
Political Implications if Obi did it:
– Positive: Strong signal that an Obi presidency would be radically different, zero tolerance for sacred cows.
– Negative: Could alienate the security establishment and National Assembly early in administration. Could distract from economic agenda with constant legal battles.
Alternative Roles for Sowore in an Obi Administration:
Many analysts suggest Obi msy want to use Sowore’s strength without the legal hurdle of EFCC, other positions could be considered:
– Special Adviser on Anti-Corruption / Public Integrity
– Head of a new Whistleblower and Investigative Panel
– Chairman of National Orientation / Civic Education reform
Conclusion for Notes:
The idea is popular on social media because both men represent anti-corruption to their supporters, but legally and institutionally it is problematic. EFCC Chairman requires a law enforcement background which Sowore does not have, and his activist profile makes Senate confirmation unlikely.
If the goal is a truly independent EFCC, a career anti-graft professional with a reputation for integrity but less political baggage may be more sustainable, while Sowore could be used in a complementary anti-corruption advocacy role.
The World Bank has issued a statement telling Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, to step aside and allow Peter Obi to prepare for the Nigerian presidency.
As an international financial institution, the World Bank has also maintained a strict institutional neutrality and does not want to interfere in domestic politics or endorse political candidates or comment on political rivalries, but sees Peter Obi as an excellent chap.
The World Bank also urges anyone circulating an online piece of political commentary or fabricated text on social media as supporters of the ongoing administration to rather focus on building Anambra State than issuing an unofficial communication of lies, because what is actually happening and the name of the World Bank being dragged by Prof. Charles Soludo shouldn’t be used over Peter Obi or linked in any news for specific policy and financial reasons, which likely may trigger online rumor.
The Loan Controversy: The Anambra State Government, under Governor Soludo, sparked a public debate by stating that they are still servicing eight external loans contracted during Peter Obi’s tenure as governor, some of which involved World Bank/IDA funding.
World Bank Rebuttal on Peter Obi: Peter Obi firmly denying leaving behind any unpaid liabilities or contractor debts, challenging the state government to provide public proof.
Prof. Soludo’s World Bank Stance as Anambra State Governor: This recently made headlines by pulling Anambra State out of a federal World Bank loan arrangement — the NG-CARES program — arguing that the terms were not in the best long-term financial interest of his state.
We should be talking about economics, people like Professor Soludo — who should also be talking of economics like other people — should keep quiet when a brilliant person like Peter Obi is talking about Servicing 8 Loans Taken by Peter Obi. For me, a loan is a loan, whether sovereign or not. Anambra State’s FAAC allocation.
GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI ABIA STATE “PETER OBI ACTUALLY LEFT THE MONEY HE SAID HE LEFT”
This is a statement worth revisiting.
Alex Otti, who was CEO of Diamond Bank at the time Peter Obi was leaving office as Anambra State Governor, said he was personally involved in the financial arrangements.
According to Otti, Obi wanted to leave the funds in cash, but Diamond Bank advised against it. He said about $155 million was converted from naira and invested in Eurobonds and the Tier-2 capital of some banks, with some investments maturing years later.
Otti’s account is significant because it comes from someone who says he participated directly in the transaction, rather than simply commenting from outside.
The issue, therefore, should not be reduced to political arguments or social-media narratives.
Let the documents, investment records, bank records and official handover documents speak.
When public money is involved, Nigerians deserve facts, records and accountability — not speculation.

Former Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku stated that Peter Obi left sufficient funds and foreign currency behind in Anambra State, which successor Willie Obiano used to build the Anambra International Airport and execute other major projects. Key Statements by Darius Ishaku on Peter Obi Legacy of Savings: Ishaku shared that when he asked former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano how he managed to fund the construction of the brand-new airport, Obiano confided that it was built using money (in Naira and foreign currency) that Peter Obi saved and left behind.Exceptional Leadership: During Obi’s visit to Taraba State for nationwide consultations, Ishaku praised Obi as an exceptional Nigerian who proved that responsibility should define leadership.World-Class Presentation: Ishaku described Obi’s 45-minute address on Nigeria’s economic and structural issues as world-class, noting that Obi did not just outline the nation’s problems, but also provided clear, practical solutions.Faith in the Future: Concluding his remarks on Obi’s governance record, Ishaku expressed confidence that under a leader like Peter Obi, “Nigeria will be okay”.Former Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, explains DARIUS ISHAKU: “OBIANO TOLD ME PETER OBI LEFT ENOUGH Governor OBI AN EXCEPTIONAL NIGERIAN – GOV. ISHAKU The Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Darius Dickson Ishaku has described the former Governor of Anambra state, thisislagos.an exceptional Nigerian, says Governor Ishaku Governor of Taraba State, Engr Darius Dickson Ishaku, has described the former Governor of Anambra . WHILE NIGERIANS SUFFER AT HOME, THE ELITES HOLIDAY IN MARBELLA – PETER OBI STAYS WITH THE PEOPLE IN KADUNA
The contrast is clear and painful for every ordinary Nigerian.
At a time when Nigerians are groaning under the high cost of fuel, galloping inflation, hunger, insecurity, and the collapse of the Naira, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is abroad enjoying himself, far from the realities facing the people he leads.
Joining in this luxury vacation in Marbella, Spain, are our high and mighty – Seyi Tinubu, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Dino Melaye, Dr. Deji Adeleke – father of music icon Davido, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, and other notable Nigerians who have turned Marbella into a playground while Nigeria burns.
While the masses queue for expensive fuel, while food prices have gone beyond the reach of common families, while our youths have no jobs, our elites are toasting champagne on the beaches of Spain.
Meanwhile, back home, Daddy Freeze and Prof. Charles Soludo are busy wasting their time, speaking with anger and envy to discredit the visible, verifiable achievements of Mr. Peter Obi.
Peter Obi is different. He is currently on ground in Kaduna, preparing Nigerians for the great feast to celebrate his incoming administration as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027.
He is not in Europe. He is in Kaduna doing a practical assessment of what Nigerians expect from him as President:
1. FOR OUR ARMED FORCES: Immediate provision of utility buses for the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to serve as daily transportation for officers and men moving from NDA Kawo to Afaka, to cushion the harsh effect of fuel subsidy removal and high transport costs on military families.
2. INFRASTRUCTURE: A Marshall plan for road rehabilitation across Kaduna State and total rehabilitation of dilapidated Military Barracks across the country, to commence immediately he is sworn in as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
3. ECONOMY & FOOD SECURITY: Aggressive promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kaduna and Zaria, and a revolution in food production across the North – Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa axis – to crash food prices and achieve food sufficiency for Nigeria.
4. HOUSING FOR THE POOR: Immediate assessment and rollout of low-cost housing projects for the less privileged in our society.
While Tinubu and his circle enjoy abroad as fuel prices and hardship kill Nigerians, Peter Obi spends his time inside Nigeria, listening to the people and giving credence to Nigerian problems as his number one priority when sworn in as President in 2027.
Let the record show: As Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi did not leave one Kobo debt. He cleared all debts and left billions in savings. He was awarded Best Governor in Nigeria, honored by the World Health Organization for health transformation, and decorated with multiple media awards for good governance.
For this reason, I, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, stand with millions of suffering Nigerians to fully support Mr. Peter Obi as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
