The Renewed Hope message got a major push in Oyo State as Renewed Hope Crusader, Olalekan Oni, took the policies, programmes and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to the people through a three-day intensive media engagement in Ibadan.
The crusade, held from Thursday, September 3 to Saturday, September 5, 2026, featured appearances on five leading radio stations: *Honor 103.1FM, Omoluabi 87.7FM, YES 101.7FM, JDN Radio 101.5FM and Crest 91.1FM*.
Discussions centred on the state of the nation, the Nigerian economy, Tinubu’s reforms, government interventions, and preparations for the 2027 General Elections.
Across the platforms, Oni provided a detailed analysis of the economy. He acknowledged the hardship Nigerians are currently facing, but also highlighted what he described as the early gains emerging from the Renewed Hope Administration.
He backed his submissions with statistics, beneficiary figures and examples of ongoing government programmes. The focus, he said, was to explain not only what the administration has done, but why some of the difficult decisions were taken and how citizens are beginning to benefit.
“The reforms are painful in the short term, but they are necessary to reposition the economy for long-term growth,” Oni told listeners. “We must be honest about the challenges while also telling the truth about the progress being made.”
A major highlight of the engagement was the direct confrontation of what Oni described as misinformation, half-truths and misleading narratives from opposition voices.
Rather than allow such narratives to stand, he used the interactive sessions to put records straight, provide context to government policies, and spotlight programmes that have not received adequate public awareness.
The phone-in segments gave members of the public room to question, challenge and scrutinise the issues.
The feedback reflected the mood of the country. While some callers expressed frustration over economic hardship, others commended the President for taking tough decisions.
A notable moment came on YES FM when a caller declared his intention to support President Tinubu for a second term, citing the administration’s settlement of outstanding pension obligations as a key reason.
Two Facebook participants who joined the live broadcasts also shared personal testimonies, saying they were beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s TVET initiative.
The three-day crusade recorded massive reach, with an estimated 120,000 people listening to or watching the five broadcasts.
The audience extended beyond Ibadan and Oyo State to parts of Lagos and Osun States. The Facebook Live streams further expanded the reach beyond geographical boundaries.
The engagement underscored the power of radio combined with interactive phone-ins and social media as tools for political communication and civic education.
For many listeners, the programmes became an opportunity to learn about government interventions they were previously unaware of, and to demand accountability directly.
The 2027 presidential election also dominated conversations during the crusade.
Oni argued that President Tinubu’s chances for a second term remain strong, pointing to policy direction, ongoing reforms and emerging results as factors that will shape the political debate.
He stressed that the campaign season will require more than rallies, calling for sustained engagement through radio, television, community outreach, social media and grassroots mobilisation.
“The people must be given the opportunity to hear, question and understand the policies and programmes of government before making their electoral choices,” he said.
Oni thanked the management and presenters of Honor 103.1FM, Omoluabi 87.7FM, YES 101.7FM, JDN Radio 101.5FM and Crest 91.1FM for providing their platforms.
He also appreciated his leader, Alhaji Tunde Oyetola, for his “massive support and encouragement” during the engagement.
Describing the Ibadan outreach as part of a broader national effort, Oni said the Renewed Hope message will continue to move across the country as the 2027 political season approaches.
“The conversation continues across the nation as we move properly into the campaign season. The Renewed Hope message must continue to reach the people, and Nigerians must be given the opportunity to hear the facts, ask questions and make informed choices.”
He concluded with the Yoruba expression, “Ajọṣe wa kọnibaje,” reaffirming his commitment to collective political engagement and mobilisation.
