The Orashi region joined family, friends, and political associates on Sunday to celebrate the 70th birthday of Senator Wilson Ake, a statesman, described as a visionary leader, disciplinarian, and tireless advocate for the development of his people.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Emeni Ibe, President General of the Orashi National Congress (ONC), praised Senator Ake’s enduring contributions to the region, noting that he remains one of the few politicians whose legacy continues to inspire younger leaders.

Amb. Ibe recalled with deep appreciation that Senator Ake was the only politician who had appointed him as an assistant during his years in the Senate, a gesture he described as a testament to the Senator’s inclusive leadership and commitment to youth empowerment.

Highlighting one of Senator Ake’s most notable advocacies, Amb. Ibe stated that the lawmaker had long championed the creation of Orashi State as a way of deepening equity and accelerating development within the Niger Delta. He expressed optimism that the dream of an Orashi State will be realized while Senator Ake is alive, as a mark of honour for his relentless push and genuine passion for the region’s progress.

“Senator Ake is not just a politician, he is a father figure, a trailblazer, and a leader whose contributions remain evergreen. The Orashi people will continue to celebrate him for his intellect, his compassion, and his unmatched commitment to our collective growth,” Amb. Ibe said.
The occasion drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, who paid glowing tributes to the Senator’s life and service, marking his 70th birthday as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and renewed calls for unity and development in the Orashi region.
