Ondo State Govt Insists On Zero Tolerance To Child Abuse & Assault

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, has reaffirmed  Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s Administration’s zero tolerance for abuse, social degradation and assault on any child in the State.

She made this known yesterday in her office when a case of child abuse and assault involving a father, at Unaun New Site, Upenmen, in Owo Local Government area of Ondo State, who attacked his daughter, a minor, with a hot pressing iron on her private part for bed wetting.

Dr Osamaye, who frowned at this heinous and dastardly act inflicted on the minor by her father, pledged to ensure that the victim’s father will surely face prosecution by the State Government.

Dr Osamaye thanked the State Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, for his proactiveness and swift response, mobilising his Divisional Police Officer, Owo A’ Division, Mr Iwatan Oluwatobi, who swiftly arrested the father for investigation. She  also  appreciated Chief Olanrewaju Abegunde, His Royal Highness, Olunaun of Unaun-Owo, Owo LGA, Ondo State and Mr. Ajibola Omotayo, Secretary, Owo Youth Assembly and Hon Olasupo Olakunori, DG Opomumero Movement, for their timely intervention to inform the State Government about the incident. She also extended her heartfelt appreciation to Rt. Honourable Doyin Adeyefa, Leader of the House, Owo Local Government, Hon. Nike Agbede, Councillor, Ijebu 2 Ward 4 , Mr. Maxwell Uwashokan, a Media Practitioner, and Welfare Officers of the Ministry for rising to the occasion in ensuring that the minor was given proper attention at the police station and also taken to FMC, Owo for immediate medical care by the Ondo State Government pending further action  further appreciated  Mrs. Akinrogbe Omolara, former Special Assistant to the Governor and other social welfare officer of the ministry, Mr. Bakare who took up  the responsibility of ensuring that the minor was properly given medical attention at the Federal Hospital.

Dr Osamaye therefore, charged the general public to promptly report all cases of child Abuse to the Ministry without any delay.
