The Orashi National Congress, ONC, the apex socio-cultural organization representing the people of the Orashi region, is set to host a landmark Special Convention on Peace, Unity and Development on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The one-day gathering will be held at the Erema Civil Center, Erema Town, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, ONELGA, Rivers State.
The convention is designed as a strategic platform for stakeholders across Orashi to deliberate on pressing challenges and develop a common agenda for sustainable peace, unity, and socio-economic growth.
Expected participants include traditional rulers, political leaders, professionals, youth and women groups, community leaders, and representatives of various interest groups from across the Orashi region.
The Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Rivers State, High Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has been invited as the Special Guest of Honour.
Other notable figures expected at the event include the NDC Rivers State Chairman, Hon. Isaac Prince, a Federal House of Representatives candidate, as well as top community leaders and representatives of key interest groups.
Speaking ahead of the convention, the President General of ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, said the gathering represents another critical step toward strengthening unity and peaceful coexistence in Orashi land.
“The ONC remains committed to providing a credible platform where critical issues affecting our people can be discussed openly and constructive solutions developed,” Amb. Ibe stated.
According to him, the convention is not merely a social gathering but an opportunity for Orashi people to reflect on collective challenges, identify areas of common interest, and build partnerships that can advance the region.
He emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when the various communities and ethnic nationalities within Orashi work together with a shared vision.
The Congress has called on sons and daughters of Orashi, traditional rulers, youth organizations, women groups, professionals, political stakeholders, and all concerned citizens to turn out in large numbers.
According to ONC, contributions from participants will be vital to meaningful discussions on peace, security, unity, youth empowerment, infrastructure, economic opportunities, and other issues central to the development of the region.
As preparations intensify, the ONC urged all participants to approach the convention with an open mind and a spirit of brotherhood, emphasizing dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
The organization expressed optimism that the convention will produce renewed commitments and practical partnerships that will contribute to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Orashi region.
