Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Her Excellency Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, for her exceptional leadership as Chairman of the Rivers State Flood Management and Prevention Committee.
In a statement signed by its President General, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the ONC, which is the apex socio-cultural organization of the Orashi people comprising Abua Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, ONELGA, commended the Deputy Governor for her humane, transparent and result-oriented approach.
The Congress lauded Prof. Odu for her swift flag-off and distribution of relief materials to flood-devastated communities in Abua Odual, ONELGA, Oyigbo, Eleme, PHALGA, Obio/Akpor and Bonny LGAs.
It also highlighted her introduction of free healthcare enrollment through RIVCHPP for vulnerable victims, moral support to bereaved families, synergy with NEMA covering 13 LGAs, insistence on proper enumeration and non-partisan distribution, and the ongoing desilting of critical drains at Rumuokwurusi and other flash points.
“As a people from the most flood-impacted region of Rivers State, we feel your intervention directly and we are deeply grateful,” the ONC stated.
The Congress, on behalf of its National Executive Council and the entire Orashi Region, said it is proud of the committee reconstituted by Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, under Prof. Odu’s chairmanship, noting that it has demonstrated capacity and empathy.
Consequently, the ONC passed a vote of confidence on her leadership and assured her of its continuous partnership in protecting lives, alleviating suffering and strengthening disaster-response mechanisms in Rivers State.
