Notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has called for calm and respect for due process over the leadership tussle in Ohiauga Community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The apex socio-cultural organization of Orashi people said it has observed with keen interest the developments in the community over the leadership of the Community Development Committee, CDC.

In a statement issued on October 4, 2026, and signed by its President General, Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, the ONC said it is committed to peace, justice and unity of Orashi people.

The Congress advised all parties to remain calm, avoid taking laws into their hands, and respect the constituted authority of the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Council and security agencies.

It urged all parties to allow the constitution drafting process as directed by the ONELGA Council to be completed, and to embrace dialogue as the only path to sustainable peace.

“Ohiauga belongs to all its sons and daughters. No individual, family or group is bigger than the community,” the statement said.

ONC clarified that the security presence in Ohiauga on October 1, 2026, was for peace-keeping and prevention of breakdown of law and order, not an invasion, stressing that no one was molested or attacked. It cautioned against misrepresentation of the incident.

“Leadership is trust, not personal possession. We urge maturity, restraint and sincere dialogue. Let peace reign in Ohiauga. Let due process be respected,” Amb. Ibe added.
