Leaders and stakeholders of Ogere International Market met with All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known as Yayi, and declared support for his candidacy.
The declaration was made during a meeting between Senator Yayi and a delegation of market leaders led by the General Chairman of Ogere International Market, Alhaji Bura Buni. The delegation reportedly comprised market executives, community leaders, traders, and representatives of the Hausa community in Ogere and neighboring communities.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Bura Buni said traders in Ogere had followed Senator Yayi’s political trajectory and developmental interventions across Ogun State. He stated that the market community had been mobilizing support for the APC governorship candidate prior to formal political activities.
According to Alhaji Bura Buni, the market leadership embarked on a voter registration campaign across the market and surrounding communities, which resulted in the registration of over 6,000 eligible voters. He added that the exercise remains ongoing as traders continue to encourage residents and members of their households to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
He said the mobilization efforts were voluntary and driven by the conviction that Senator Yayi possesses the leadership qualities required to move Ogun State forward. He also commended the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun for maintaining peace and creating an enabling environment for businesses.

Alhaji Buni further stated that attempts by opposition elements to secure the support of the market through gifts and financial inducements were rejected by the market leadership. He assured Senator Yayi that traders in Ogere International Market, as well as members of the Hausa community in Ogere and Iperu, would stand behind the APC and work toward the success of its candidates.
Mallam Muhideen Adewole also spoke and reaffirmed his support for Senator Yayi, recounting personal sacrifices he said he made in support of the APC governorship project. In response, Senator Yayi said he would sponsor him for the holy pilgrimage to Makkah, according to attendees.
The Iyaloja of Ogere, Alhaja Falilat, also said market leaders had encouraged traders and residents to support the APC candidate. She described Ogere International Market as one of the major commercial hubs in the state and appealed for the establishment of an additional polling unit around the tollgate area to accommodate the growing voting population.
Responding, Senator Yayi expressed appreciation to the delegation for their support for the APC. He commended the market leadership for voter mobilization and grassroots political participation, describing their efforts as a demonstration of commitment to democratic engagement.
The APC governorship candidate said he had received reports about the market and its leadership and promised to personally visit Ogere International Market to interact with traders and assess their needs.
Senator Yayi assured the delegation that his administration would build on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and continue to implement programs for traders, artisans, and residents. He said the market community would remain part of future engagements.

As a gesture of appreciation, Senator Yayi announced a donation of 100 bags of rice and ₦10 million to the market community. He also said issues raised, including the request for additional voting facilities, would receive attention.
