As part of this gesture, all local government and ward executives in Agege (405 in total) received ₦250,000 each, totaling ₦101,250,000 (one hundred and one million, two hundred and fifty thousand Naira). Additionally, in recognition of their efforts in delivering APC victories, the zonal chairmen and secretaries (158) within the local government received ₦100,000 each, totaling ₦15,800,000 (Fifteen million, eight hundred thousand Naira).
Party leaders in Agege and Orile-Agege LCDA were not left out, as they too benefited from the Speaker’s show of gratitude.
Speaking during the distribution, Rt. Hon. Obasa commended the exceptional loyalty of Agege to the APC, noting that members have consistently stood by the party even without financial incentives.
He emphasized that this appreciation is both a recognition of their value and an encouragement for continued commitment as preparations begin for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“For us in Agege, votes are earned, not bought,” Obasa stated, reaffirming the community’s strong alignment with the Speaker and the APC.
The Speaker also outlined plans to strengthen APC’s grassroots presence in Agege ahead of the next electoral cycle. These plans include capacity-building programmes for Ward and LG Executives, more community-driven development projects to improve infrastructure and social welfare, expanded opportunities for youth and women empowerment, and strategic mobilisation efforts to ensure Agege remains a stronghold for APC in 2027.
“These initiatives will keep Agege at the forefront of progressive politics in Lagos State,” Obasa added.
