Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles, has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion and community support for persons living with visual impairment by donating N3 million, food products and other materials to mark the 2026 International White Cane and Safety Day.
The company’s contribution included cartons of Indomie noodles, souvenirs, T-shirts, face caps and a mobile kitchen to support the event, which celebrates the achievements of persons with visual impairment and promotes awareness of their mobility, independence and inclusion in society.
Speaking on the support, Adeola Aina, Chairman of the 2026 International White Cane and Safety Day Commemoration Planning Committee, expressed appreciation to Dufil Prima Foods, describing the donation as a significant contribution that made the occasion especially meaningful.
He noted that the company’s support demonstrated a commitment to recognising persons with visual impairment and including them in activities that promote their participation and wellbeing.
According to the company representative, the intervention reflects Dufil Prima Foods’ belief that persons with disabilities should be included in society and have access to opportunities that enable them to thrive. The representative added that the company had supported similar initiatives in previous years and had maintained a longstanding relationship with organisations serving persons with visual impairment, including the Society for the Blind, over the past 10 to 15 years.
Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events General Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Limited, said the support extends beyond financial and material donations to helping address practical challenges faced by visually impaired persons. He noted that the white cane plays an essential role in enabling independent mobility and helping users navigate their surroundings with greater confidence.
Ashiwaju also highlighted the importance of collaboration between corporate organisations and other stakeholders in addressing social challenges, noting that government alone cannot meet every community need.
The impact of inclusion was also reflected in the experience of Emmanuel Nwambuonwo, a visually impaired Dufil team member currently undertaking his National Youth Service Corps programme. He described his experience with the company as positive, highlighting the support he had received and the organisation’s willingness to engage in inclusive activities.
Emmanuel, who supports consumer research and assists with corporate social responsibility activities, said he was excited to be part of a company that had already been involved in supporting such initiatives before he joined.
Adeola urged persons with visual impairment to remain determined in pursuing their aspirations and to continue building their skills, emphasising that appropriate training and technology can help individuals excel across various professions.
Through its continued support for initiatives such as International White Cane and Safety Day, Dufil Prima Foods said it is reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility in advancing inclusion, dignity and opportunity for persons with disabilities.
