
The President General of respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe (JP AP), who doubles as the National President of the Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria, SYF, has called for an end to violent protestation and blockage of peaceful operations of companies in the Niger Delta region.
Ambassador Ibe made the call on behalf of the ONC and SYF at the 2nd Edition of their Public Peace Awareness Campaign in Ogbele marking the end of year programme.
According to a statement made available to the press, the which is themed: “Let Us Shun Protestation and Embrace Dialogue/Peaceful Approach with Companies Operating in Our Domain”, it is aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence, constructive engagement, and dialogue between host communities and companies operating within the area.
The campaign seeks to discourage violent protests and encourage alternative dispute-resolution mechanisms that foster development, stability, and mutual understanding.
Community leaders, youths, stakeholders, and representatives of corporate organizations are all advised accordingly. The programme was timely, given the need for sustained peace and cooperation for grassroots development in the region.
