Amb. Ibe Commends President Tinubu Over Salary Increase For Armed Forces

The President General of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent for personnel of Nigeria’s armed forces.

Amb. Ibe described the gesture as a well-deserved recognition of the sacrifices made by men and women in uniform as they confront banditry, kidnapping and terrorism across the country.

Under the new welfare package, about 250,000 personnel are expected to benefit. The pay increase will raise the yearly salary bill for armed forces personnel from N660 billion to N924 billion.

“The gesture by Mr. President is a huge moral booster for the sacrifices of members of our armed forces as they confront the scourge of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in some parts of the country,” Amb. Ibe stated.

The ONC President General stressed that security personnel deserve sustained support and appreciation for keeping Nigerians safe.

“Our brothers and sisters who help to keep us safe in our homes must be supported and appreciated in the course of their duties to our nation,” he said.

“I do hope that Government will continue to prioritise the welfare of troops and modernise the armed forces by providing the weapons and technological tools needed to discharge their duties.”

Amb. Ibe also urged officers and men of the armed forces to see the salary adjustment as a sign of national gratitude.

“I encourage our servicemen to take Mr. President’s gesture as a sign of our deep appreciation of the services they render to our fatherland,” he concluded.
