The President General of notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi Congress, ONC, Ambassador Comrade Emeni Ibe, JP, AP, has warmly congratulated Madam Doris Okoro on her appointment as the new Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), FCET, Omoku.
The appointment makes Madam Okoro the first female Provost in the history of the institution, a milestone celebrated across the Orashi region and beyond.
In his congratulatory message, Amb. Ibe described the appointment as both well-deserved and timely.
“It is certainly not by accident that you are the first female Provost to be appointed to steer the administrative ship of a highly respected institution,” he stated. “Your exceptional work ethic and administrative capacity earned you the appointment.”
He noted that FCET Omoku remains the only federal tertiary institution in the Orashi area, and the choice of Madam Okoro reflects confidence in her capacity to advance academic excellence and institutional growth.
Speaking on behalf of the leadership and members of the Orashi National Congress, Amb. Ibe expressed optimism that the new Provost will build on the legacy of her predecessors while charting a new course for the College.
“On behalf of the leadership and members of the Orashi National Congress, I say congratulations to the new Provost of FCET Omoku. Madam Doris Okoro, Congratulations! Our only request is that you should move our only institution here to greater glory!”
He urged her to prioritize infrastructure development, staff welfare, student empowerment, and stronger collaboration with host communities and industry partners to position FCET Omoku as a center of technical and vocational excellence in the Niger Delta.
The Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, plays a critical role in training technical teachers and middle-level manpower for schools and industries across Rivers State and neighboring states. Stakeholders say the appointment of a female Provost signals a new era of inclusive leadership at the institution.
The Orashi National Congress is the apex socio-cultural body for communities along the Orashi River basin, including ONELGA, Abua/Odual, Ahoada East, and Ahoada West. The Congress has consistently advocated for educational advancement and the protection of institutional interests in the region.
