BEN AHANONU

As Nigeria stands on the precipice of the landmark 2027 electoral cycle, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) find themselves possessed of a profound, undeniable reason to stand tall and beat their chests. The political and economic horizon, once clouded by the dust of transition, has cleared to reveal an unmistakable trajectory.
Under the stewardship of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s story is being rewritten—transforming from a grueling chapter of necessary national sacrifice into an epic narrative of foundational triumph. For every progressive who harbours an unshakeable belief in Nigeria’s destiny as a global superpower, the Tinubu presidency represents the ultimate vindication of the party’s mandate. He did not merely inherit power; he used it to confront the deep-seated structural demons that previous administrations lacked the political will to face.
To fully grasp why every card-carrying member of the APC should carry their head high, one must first appreciate the sheer, unadulterated courage of Tinubu’s leadership. For over a generation, the Nigerian economy was slowly asphyxiated by two fiscal parasites: a corrupt fuel subsidy regime and a distorted, dual-exchange rate system. These were not welfare policies designed to shield the vulnerable; they were systemic wealth-transfer mechanisms that enriched a sophisticated cartel of economic saboteurs while bleeding the national treasury dry.
Where others procrastinated, President Tinubu acted. By cutting these toxic lifelines on his very first day in office, he chose the treacherous, politically volatile path over easy popularity. It was a move that triggered immediate inflationary shocks and widespread national discomfort—the economic equivalent of performing open-heart surgery on a critically ill patient without anaesthesia.
Yet, look at the landscape today as we approach 2027. The financial haemorrhaging has stopped. State governments—irrespective of whether they fly the APC flag or belong to the opposition—are enjoying unprecedented, record-breaking allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). Municipalities and states are now liquid, and infrastructure projects that languished in bureaucratic purgatory for decades are finally receiving robust funding. The federal government has stopped burning its future to fuel the consumption of the present.
Beyond this newfound fiscal discipline, the Tinubu administration is physically reshaping the geography of West Africa. The aggressive, uncompromising push on critical infrastructure has become the ultimate badge of honour for the APC. Consider the monumental Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway—a generational engineering feat that is rapidly slicing through coastal terrains to unlock trillion-naira economic corridors. Look also to the sweeping revitalisations of the federal rail networks and the dualisation of vital interstate arteries. True progressives have always known that physical connectivity is the bedrock of wealth creation. Tinubu is translating this progressive philosophy into tangible concrete, steel, and asphalt at a breathtaking pace, physically stitching the Nigerian marketplace together to lower the cost of doing business.
Furthermore, this administration has engineered a quiet revolution in the very architecture of Nigerian governance through audacious institutional reforms. The Supreme Court victory securing absolute financial autonomy for local governments stands out as a historic masterstroke of political engineering. By deliberately bypassing state-level bottlenecks and the notorious joint accounts, the Tinubu-led government has breathed life back into grassroots democracy. For the first time in modern history, resources are flowing directly to the third tier of government, empowering ordinary Nigerians where they live.
This decentralisation of economic power aligns seamlessly with the core tenets of the APC manifesto: egalitarian governance that builds from the bottom up. When you couple this structural liberation with the administration’s targeted interventions—such as massive capital injections into agricultural mechanisation, the institutionalisation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), and the creation of digital economy hubs for our brilliant youth—it becomes clear that the federal government is systematically constructing a resilient, self-sustaining middle class.
Politics, stripped of its rhetoric, is ultimately judged by resilience and results. President Tinubu took the helm during a global macroeconomic tempest, characterised by soaring inflation and post-pandemic disruptions. He steered the Nigerian ship of state through the absolute worst of the transition shocks without allowing the vessel to capsize. As we march toward 2027, the dividends of that dark night of reform are finally breaking dawn. We are witnessing a stabilised foreign exchange market, an unprecedented resurgence in local manufacturing, and a massive influx of foreign direct investment from global players who now view Nigeria as a predictable, reform-minded economy.
Every APC member should walk into the upcoming campaign season with unyielding pride. Our party did not capitulate to cheap, populist sentiment or offer short-term, superficial band-aids that would have collapsed the republic tomorrow. Instead, under the fierce, calculated, and visionary leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC has cemented its status as the only political force in Nigeria with the stomach for real governance, the intellect for deep strategy, and the structural blueprint required to build a modern state.
Without doubt, the economic wilderness is behind us, the foundations have been cleared, the structural pillars are rising, and the future indisputably belongs to a reformed, roaring Nigeria. Every member of the All Progressives Congress should be immensely proud, because President Tinubu has not just saved the economy—he has made us proud as progressives.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA
