The Mazi Organization, TMO, has carpeted one Collins Opuruozor over deliberate falsehoods targeted to pitch the organization against the Catholic Church.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday 13th May, 2025, the TMO, through the spokesman, Cajetan Duke said, “Good morning, gentlemen of the press. We are delighted to have you here”.
“I want to begin by letting you know that as a grassroots organization, TMO is working to establish a new paradigm with a feasible action plan, that will promote sustainable socio-economic development of the state. TMO, however, believes that the process of achieving its goals that border on holistic transformational change requires the active participation of the masses in the political process.”
“TMO is fully prepared as an organization and determined to ensure the emergence of effective and productive leadership in the state.”
“We are having meaningful, purposeful and productive conversations with Imo people regarding the way forward and why there is a need for dedicated new beginning for the state in terms of leadership.
Imo State, rich in human and natural resources, has yet to experience the kind of dynamic leadership that can harness its full potential. Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, PhD, represents the kind of visionary leader Imo needs – one who can drive economic prosperity, establish lasting peace and security, and inspire hope for a brighter future.
Amadi is aware of the pains, suffering and needs of Imo people. He is aware of the yearnings of the impoverished Imo people, he has heard their cries and has vowed to restore the lost Imo Dream inspired by purposeful, sacrificial and courageous leadership.”
“However, we have discovered that some people are not comfortable with the wind of positive change blowing across the state through TMO’s productive engagements with Imo people and have decided to instigate crisis with the dissemination of deliberate falsehoods on social media.
Worthy of note is the recent failed efforts by one Collins Opuruozor, an aide of Governor Hope Uzodimma to paint Amadi in a bad light and pit him against the sacred Catholic Church, through his several false publications with various pseudonyms such as Clifford Akunnakwe, Rev. Fr. Fred Jason, Bro. Pauline’s Obiwuru, Kenneth Arua Ukpai, Ikechukwu Uwadi among others.”
“In one of his mischievous outings under the mask of Clifford Akunnakwe, with the misguided headline: “IS CHIMA MATTHEW AMADI THE ANTICHRIST”? He wrote:
“In times of darkness, history reminds us that some men rise to give light, while others emerge only to cast shadows. The recent Facebook post by Chima Matthew Amadi, a 2027 governorship aspirant in Imo State, has left a deep scar on the soul of a people for whom faith is not just a belief, but an identity. In a move that many have described as shocking, sacrilegious, and deeply dangerous, Amadi called on the people of Imo to abandon the Catholic Church. His justification? The election of an American Pope. His promise? That, if he becomes governor, Catholic churches in Imo will be turned into nightclubs”.
“The truth is that anyone with basic intelligence knows that someone, who has any kind of political ambition in Igboland, no matter their true intentions, will never speak like this. What then will make any averagely intelligent person, claim that someone said this? The answer is desperation. Desperation can make ordinarily intelligent people lose all sense of reason.”
“Equally, the church, as the body of Christ, is a sacred institution that transcends partisan politics. It is a place of worship, spiritual guidance, and community service. We are appalled by the audacity of individuals who seek to reduce the church to a political instrument for their selfish interests. These mischievous characters are driven by a desire for recognition and personal gain, rather than a genuine concern for the welfare of our citizens.”
“It is also instructive to note that Amadi is a proud Christian, who knows that all humans are children of one God, who deserve to worship Him in spirit and in truth and in any way that pleases the Almighty. He is not a fanatic of his faith or his Christian denomination. He respects the faith of every human being and respects their right to worship however and wherever they like as far as their worship does not undermine the right of others to also worship as they wish. Dr Amadi feels at home in any House of God and amongst God’s people anywhere on earth. No evil thought can come to him and no evil eyes will see him because he knows his father protects him and all with him.”
“Let me reiterate that The Mazi Gburugburu Organization is not a religious organization and has nothing to do with the running or decisions of any church, not least, the Catholic Church.”
“We recognize and appreciate the contributions of the church in shaping our communities, promoting values of compassion, integrity, and progress. The church has played a vital role in nurturing our citizens, providing spiritual guidance, and advocating for social justice, hence our organization could not have made such a reckless statement as fabricated by Collins using pseudonyms and will never condescend so low for any reason.”
“So far, this Collins has published via various social media platforms about ten posts with pseudonyms containing his fabricated stories against our principal, Amadi.”
“To the glory of God Almighty, the sacred Catholic Church, which has a clear and well – established channel of communication is aware of the invidious manipulation by this mischievous character and stands firm to resist it by not responding to it in any form.”
“Our discreet investigation has however, revealed that this Collins doesn’t have the mandate of the state government in this misadventure, hence he resorted to the use of fictitious and non-existent names to carry out this nefarious activities that are capable of undermining the fragile security and peace of our dear state.”
“Nonetheless, TMO is worried about the fact that the governor, has such irresponsible and detestable entities, like Collins, who have no respect for him, as aides.”
“A man, who was notorious in blackmailing Governor Uzodimma, without shame and personal honour suddenly somersaulted to swallow his pride. How he recieves pay from Uzodimma’s government is deserving of psychological study. Today, he has found a new target in Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi – He will still peddle another falsehood tomorrow but Imo people now know his fallacious antics.”
“One thing certain is that he will easily do the same thing to Governor Uzodimma tomorrow if things should fall apart. We know his character!”
“The Mazi Organization is not against Governor Uzodimma and will never antagonize him, however, we urge him to call his aides with subterranean personal/political agenda like Collins to order or drop them outright. Our legal department has been positioned to take swift legal action in the event of any of such malicious fabrication in the media, going forward.”
“Our principal Amadi, is a God – fearing man that loves the Church of Jesus Christ and has demonstrated this without ceasing in several ways and in different fora.”
“Indeed, the focus of Amadi is on instituting a new paradigm for uninterruptible socio-economic development in Imo and he requires everyone to make it happen.”
“We therefore, urge all citizens of Imo State to rise up and reject the politics of manipulation and mischievous incitement. Let us promote a culture of issue-based politics, where leaders are judged on their policies, track record, and commitment to the welfare of our citizens. We must not allow ourselves to be swayed by emotional appeals or false promises that seek to undermine our values and principles.”
