The Aftermath Of Chima Matthew Amadi’s Townhall Meeting & The Panic Reaction Of Imo State Govt

The Mazi Organization said its attention has been drawn to an unguarded, deceptive and lies-ridden article from a barefaced “appointee” of the government of Imo State – one Ogubundu Nwadike, with the caption: “NDIMO DESCEND ON MAZI CHIMA AMADI FOR LEVELLING FALSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GOVERNOR UZODIMMA”.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson, Cajetan Duke, The Mazi Organisation said, “Ordinarily, we would have as usual ignored the provocative and deliberate misinformation of the writer, who is notorious for fabrications and propagation of all manner of falsehoods to prop up the dwindling image and public perception of the current government under the watch of Governor Hope Uzodimma, but for the purpose of setting the records straight and rupturing the hard lies of a habitual merchant of falsehood and baseless propaganda, this refutal becomes imperative”.

“Apparently, frustrated by the obvious soaring popularity of the rave of the moment, the man with the midas touch, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi – a man with proven evidence of sterling scholarship, entrepreneurial czar with exceptional boardroom experience and global consciousness of contemporary governance structure, Ogubundu acting on behalf of the outgoing government, chose to discredit albeit in futility, the outcome of the Agenda Setting Interactive Session organized by The Masses Progressive Network Incorporated in conjunction with the Mazi Organization, where Dr. Chima Amadi shared his thoughts on the roadmap for transformational governance in Imo State – an event aimed at providing a platform for healthy conversation on Imo priorities and the first of its kind in the history of Imo politics.”

“While we understated the panic reaction and frustration of the exit-bound and mediocre administration, it is important to remind them of the need to concentrate on delivering their promises of shared prosperity and not sharing and bombarding Imolites with disgusting falsehoods. The reality is that Governor Hope Uzodimma will never be on the ballot for Imo governorship election in 2027 or any other time in life.”

“That chapter is closed forever and the idea of choosing or imposing his choice of successor on Imolites, should be jettisoned, as it will never happen and has never happened before.”

“Let’s go to the Ogubundu’s claim of Ndi Imo descending on Chima Amadi, no matter what that means. It is nothing but a product of the imagination of a demented, frustrated and hallucinating mind. The event in question was aired live by two reputable national TV stations namely, Arise and TVC – you know what that means.”

“It also had the presence of more than 20 print and online media houses in attendance but it is only an Ogubundu Nwadike, who was not present and never witnessed the event that has a contrary account.”

“Beyond his nature of fabricating falsehoods to eke out a living, this latest unprovoked media attack expose the lingering frustration and headache of the government about the capacity, visibility and quality content of the Chima Amadi’s conversation.”

“The fact that the organizers of the event opened an accreditation register for the participants of the programme, where they wrote their names in their own handwriting, gives the lie to Ogubundu’s claims.”

“In fact, there is no name among the almost 900 participants related to the pseudo names used by Ogubundu in his article – we can publish the register.”

“That being said, let us look at what transpired at the event.

In unmistakable terms without prevarication and equivocation, Dr. Amadi did a proper diagnosis of maladministration of Imo State and proffered lasting solutions to the deteriorating economic health of the state.”

“Speaking on the theme: “Before Nigeria Leaves Imo Behind,” Amadi revealed what is known to every Tom, Dick and Harry in Imo State.”

“On the issue of security, Amadi informed his audience that it is squarely the sacred responsibility of a responsible and responsive government to ensure the security of lives and properties of its citizens. This is the truth known by all including Ogubundu.”

“The question then is has the Uzodimma administration in truth and honesty, lived up to this responsibility?”

“It is an incontrovertible fact that before the emergence of the so-called “3R administration” there was no part of Imo State in the grip or siege of nonstate actors.”

“The current reality of Imo State today is that some of our brothers and sisters are internally displaced due to interminable insecurity.”

“It is also a fact and clear indictment on this administration, that some senior appointees of governor Uzodimma are also internally displaced, some have not visited their communities in the last four years while some now bury their deceased loved ones in Owerri – shameful!”

“Equally, it is in this administration that our security agencies lost the greatest number of personnel in recorded history as a result of poor governance approach to internal security management.”

“On Economy, Amadi bemoaned the Imo State government dependence on Federal allocation and poor economic framework to stimulate internally generated revenue, IGR.”

“No responsible government can boast of improved internally generated revenue (IGR) through daily bullying and harassment of poor commercial road users, artisans and market women by government task forces and hooligans – it is an evidence of poor leadership and lack of creativity in governance.”

“You cannot rob Peter to pay Paul. It does not show critical depth required of a leader in a state like Imo that is blessed with abundant smart and intelligent people.”

“To show the way out, Amadi emphasized the significance of his economic template – “State Development Capitalism,” which is a framework to activate government business initiatives to boost the revenue generation capacity of the state. He expressed dissatisfaction with the abandonment of critical revenue generating investment of successive administrations and mentioned the Avutu Poultry, Standard Shoe Industry, Nsu Ceramic Industry, Adapalm and others as glaring examples.”

“The question is what is the current egg production capacity of the Avutu Poultry? How many birds are in our markets courtesy of the state owned poultry?”

“You may recall that the former vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, was brought to Imo for the commissioning of the shoe industry. Now, the questions for Ogubundu are; what is the production status of the industry? How many pieces of footwear produced by the shoe factory are in the markets today? How many Imolites are employed by the industry?”

“Needless to talk about the Nsu Ceramic Industry and Adapalm.

On education, it’s a proven fact that the foundation of quality education is basic education and Amadi only pointed out the obvious about the dilapidated state of our public schools – both primary and secondary schools.”

“Since the inception of this administration, there is no record of rehabilitation of any public primary school in the state. We stand to be corrected.”

“There is no argument about the fact that since 6 years, Imo State government has not recruited or employed one single teacher in any of the public primary or secondary schools.”

“We are witnesses to the fact that Imolites including Commissioners for education under this administration have passed vote of no confidence on our public primary and secondary schools as they now prefer private institutions to government owned.”

“Public schools in Imo state have been rejected and now avoided as a plague by parents and guardians.

Conclusively, on these three main issues that Amadi spoke on, I challenge Ogubundu to disprove him with verifiable evidence.”

“While our conversation for a new Imo has nothing personal against the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, however, we cannot afford not to show Imo people an alternative route to the actualization of the Imo of our collective dreams.”

“We therefore, advise Ogubundu and his masters to focus on the task ahead of them, while we urge the reading public to disregard the mischievous and misleading article.”
