SYF National President Congratulates President Tinubu & Asks For Lifting Of Emergency Rule In Rivers

The National President of the Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria, Amb Comrade Emeni Ibe, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the second anniversary of his administration while asking the President to restore democratic governance and lift the emergency rule in Rivers State.
The SYF National President, who doubles as the President General of the Orashi National Congress, spoke on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Amb Emeni Ibe said, “The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is two years today. Within this two years, it has been from economic restructuring to institutional reforms. President Tinubu has initiated policies that many before him dared not confront”.
“The removal of the fuel subsidy, though initially unpopular, was a necessary step to rescue Nigeria from fiscal hemorrhage. This singular decision, which has been avoided by successive governments, has now freed up resources for more strategic national investments.”
“President Tinubu also embarked on the unification of the exchange rate system. It is a transformative move that is already beginning to restore transparency and investor confidence in our financial system.”
“However, as a stakeholder in Southern Nigeria especially in Rivers State, I am not happy that my State is under emergency rule by an appointed Administrator. I therefore, ask Mr. President, as the father of the nation, to lift the emergency rule in Rivers State.”
“Before the pronouncement of emergency rule, the people of Rivers State were enjoying the dividends of democracy from the duly elected duo of His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara and Prof Ngozi Nma Odu and we will want it to continue.”
“The Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria strongly condemn the presentation of the budget by the administrator because it appeared as a grand plot to extend the emergency rule in Rivers State.”
“We therefore, appeal to Mr. President to address all the issues surrounding the emergency rule and restore the democratically elected individuals in no time so that we can join other states in the celebration of democracy and its dividends.”
