Stakeholder’ Meeting On 2026 Budget Holds In Ikeja Local Government

The Ikeja Local Government today held its 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Meeting, themed “Budget of Better 0Days 1.0”, at the Council Secretariat, where community leaders, party stakeholders, religious representatives, youth groups, and residents converged to deliberate on developmental priorities for the coming fiscal year.

The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Odubeko, who led the management staff of the council. She appreciated the stakeholders for their continued partnership in governance and reaffirmed the commitment of the administration to participatory budgeting.

The Head of Department, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. (Mrs.) Yemisi Razak, also delivered a goodwill message, explaining that the meeting was a continuation of the community engagements held across the six wards last week. She stated that the essence of the forum is to consolidate on the people’s feedback and ensure inclusiveness in budget planning.

In his keynote address, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), emphasized that the Budget of Better Days 1.0 reflects the renewed commitment of his administration to make governance work for all. He noted that “Better Days” signify better infrastructure, better schools, improved healthcare delivery, enhanced welfare for the vulnerable, and sustainable development that touches every resident of Ikeja.

The Council Chairman assured all participants that every contribution made during the engagement would be duly considered in finalizing the 2026 fiscal plan. He reiterated that the budget would not just be in figures but will translate into tangible projects and people-centered initiatives that improve lives across Ikeja.

The interactive session saw robust discussions as stakeholders made meaningful contributions, to which the Chairman responded one after the other.

 

The event was well attended by notable personalities including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Abisola Omisore, who gave the vote of thanks; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rasheed Adisa Ogunseye, alongside all six councillors; the APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Dally Adeokun, who led other party leaders; the CDC Chairperson, Alhaja Folami, with CDA Executives; Baales in Ikeja; the Ikeja CAN Chairman and other religious stakeholders; NYCN Ikeja Executives led by Comrade Blessing; and representatives of People Living with Disabilities led by Comrade Rotimi.

The Chairman concluded by affirming his unwavering commitment to inclusive governance and community-driven development, stating that “the 2026 Budget will bring Better Days to the good people of Ikeja.
