Several Suspects Arrested As Government Demolishes Criminal Hideout At Nekede Old Road

In continuation of the Imo State Government’s aggressive crackdown on crime and criminality, a notorious criminal hideout located at No. 1 Nekede Old Road by Nwaorie Bridge, was demolished yesterday during a coordinated operation led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, Hon. Nze Chinasa Nwaneri.

The hideout, which had become a safe haven for suspected drug dealers, armed gangs, and other criminal elements, was reduced to rubble as security operatives and government monitoring teams stormed the location in a surprise raid. The raid is a statement drawing attention to the state government’s renewed resolve to rid Imo of criminal strongholds.
Several suspects were apprehended during the operation and immediately handed over to law enforcement agencies for thorough investigation and prosecution.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Nwaneri emphasized that the government will not allow any part of the state to serve as a sanctuary for lawless individuals whose activities endanger public safety.
“This place had long become a criminal hideout—a den for drug peddlers, armed robbers, and all sorts of dangerous persons. We have dismantled it today, and let it be known: wherever such elements are hiding in this state, we will find and flush them out,” he stated.
Residents in the surrounding area expressed relief and commended the state government for its swift intervention, noting that the presence of criminal activity in the neighborhood had created fear and insecurity for too long.
This latest demolition adds to a growing list of targeted operations across the state as part of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s broader security initiative to restore public confidence, reinforce law and order, and make Imo State safe for all.
The government has once again issued a stern warning to individuals or groups sheltering criminals: desist or face the full force of the law.
