Religious leaders in Lagos State have openly declared their support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the return of former Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to lead Lagos in 2027.
The endorsement came on Saturday, 30th August, 2025, during an awareness campaign for the collection of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) held in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State. The sensitisation exercise was organised by the Tinubu-Ambo Support Group.
Speaking at the event, Rev. Dr. Ola Makinwa said the group’s resolve was rooted in the leadership qualities both leaders had demonstrated at different times.
According to him, President Tinubu has provided “a solid foundation for Nigeria’s prosperity” and deserves a second term to deepen democratic dividends, while Ambode’s earlier tenure in Lagos showcased “visionary governance in infrastructure renewal, transport reforms and social investments”.
“President Tinubu has laid a solid foundation for Nigeria’s prosperity, and we are convinced that a second term will deepen the dividends of democracy. Likewise, Ambode remains a visionary leader whose return will further advance Lagos as the economic capital of Africa,” Rev. Makinwa said.
Director General of the Tinubu-Ambo Support Group, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, also addressed the gathering, stressing that the campaign was not just about endorsements but about empowering Lagosians to participate fully in the electoral process.
“We are going from house to house, sensitising the people on the importance of collecting their PVCs. This is the only way to ensure their voices are heard and their preferred leaders are voted into office. Our message is clear: re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and bring back Akinwunmi Ambode as governor of Lagos State,” Bamigbade said.
Also speaking, Hon. Sola Oyenuga, Commissioner at the Tax Appeal Tribunal, urged Lagos youths to participate actively in politics and mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
The campaign recorded massive turnout, with youths, women, community stakeholders, and religious leaders chanting solidarity songs in support of Tinubu and Ambode. The crowd pledged their commitment to work tirelessly ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure victory for the two leaders.
