POS Operator Sent To Prison Over Alleged N2.2m Theft

Police operatives from the Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, have arrested a  25 year-old female POS operator, Ganiyat Ajibawo and dragged her before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly fraudulently  converting the sum of N2,200,000 belonging to her employer, Olayinka Kadiku. 
The defendant allegedly committed the offence when her boss gave her the money to transfer into her account but when the complainant checked her account and the money did not enter the account.
Following the development, the complainant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building Division, who directed his men to fish out the fleeing POS operator.
The Police arrested the defendant at a hideout following a tip off.
The defendant, a resident of Odunlami Street, Lagos Island, was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate Court, Lagos Island, on a count charge of stealing.
Police prosecutor, Reuben Solomon, told the Court in charge marked P/14/2025  that the defendant committed the offence on 15th August, 2025 at 83, Okesuna Street, Lagos Island, Lagos.
Solomon said the offence, the defendant allegedly committed was punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Magistrate, Mrs. N. Oseni Wahab, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Magistrate Wahab adjourned the case and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Facilities till she perfects the bail conditions.
