ONC President General Commends Rivers State Govt On Flood Management Initiative 

The President General of the Orashi National Congress, ONC, Amb. Emeni Ibe, has applauded the Rivers State Government for its proactive measures towards tackling the perennial issue of flooding in the state.
Speaking at the Sensitization Campaign of the Rivers State Central Working Committee on Flood Management and Control held on Friday, 15th August, 2025, at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt, the ONC PG, Amb. Ibe commended the Sole Administrator of Rivers State for the timely intervention aimed at protecting lives, property, and livelihoods.
He described the campaign as a crucial step in preparing communities ahead of the flood season, stressing the importance of awareness, community involvement, and preventive infrastructure. According to him, the Orashi region, being one of the areas most affected by flooding, stands to benefit greatly from such initiatives.
Amb. Ibe reaffirmed ONC’s commitment to partnering with the state government and relevant agencies to ensure the sensitization reaches grassroots communities, thereby reducing the impact of flooding across the state.
The sensitization campaign brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including community leaders, environmental experts, and representatives of flood-prone areas, to deliberate on strategies for effective flood management and control.
