ONC Commends Gov Fubara For Payment Of Health Workers’ Salary Arrears

The Orashi National Congress, ONC, has commended the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for his compassionate and people-centered leadership, following his prompt payment of eight months’ salary arrears owed to newly recruited health workers across the state.

In a statement signed by the President General of the Orashi National Congress, Amb. (Snr. Comr.) Emeni Ibe, the Congress described Governor Fubara’s action as “a reflection of responsive governance and genuine commitment to the welfare of Rivers people”.

According to the ONC, the Governor’s decision to clear the backlog of salaries alongside the October 2025 payment has brought tremendous relief to over 1,000 affected health workers deployed across the 23 local government areas of the state.

“Governor Fubara has once again demonstrated that leadership is about compassion, responsibility, and service to humanity. His intervention has given hope to many families and strengthened the morale of our health workers who form the backbone of the state’s healthcare delivery system,” the statement read.

Amb. Emeni Ibe further noted that the gesture is consistent with the Governor’s broader vision of restoring dignity, accountability, and fairness in public service, especially within critical sectors like health and education.

“The Orashi National Congress joins all well-meaning Rivers people to applaud this commendable step. We are proud of Governor Fubara’s steady and people-oriented leadership style, which continues to inspire trust and confidence across the state,” he added.

The ONC urged the newly paid health workers to reciprocate the Governor’s goodwill by rededicating themselves to their duties and ensuring quality service delivery to the people of Rivers State.
