PK1st De Legend, Alh Abass Akande Obesere Agbaakin Abobagunwa of Yoruba Land Abass Akande Obesere, has called on his colleagues to uphold the integrity and global image of Fuji music following the recent incident involving King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Speaking in reaction to the widely reported airport altercation, PK1ST described the incident as “unfortunate” and a wake-up call for Fuji musicians to live responsibly both on and off the stage.
He stressed that Fuji music is now a globally recognized genre, and those who represent it must act as worthy ambassadors at all times.
“Fuji music is a huge brand that has been accepted worldwide. As ambassadors of this great genre, our conduct must reflect the values and prestige we have worked hard to achieve,” Obesere stated.
He further called on K1 to publicly clarify his side of the story in order to protect his personal integrity and by extension, the reputation of the Fuji music community.
“As elders and leaders of this genre, what we do in public sends a message. I hope K1 will speak clearly and help restore confidence in the image of Fuji artists,” he added.
Obesere also appealed to aviation authorities and security agencies to ensure thorough investigations and enforce safety regulations without bias, especially in matters involving public figures.
Meanwhile, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released an official statement detailing the events that nearly led to a tragic accident on Monday, 5th August 2025, at the Abuja airport.
According to FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, K1 was involved in a confrontation with airport security and airline staff after attempting to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos while allegedly carrying alcohol in a flask.
The statement said, “Preliminary investigations confirmed that the passenger was scheduled to board the morning flight to Lagos operated by ValueJet Airlines (Flight VK 201). During boarding, the passenger attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the Flight Captain.”
Orah further explained that the substance, later confirmed to be alcohol, exceeded the 100ml limit allowed under international aviation regulations and that K1 reportedly spilled the contents on an airline security officer. The situation escalated when he allegedly moved toward the front of the aircraft, prompting intervention by the pilot and airport security.
“K1 De Ultimate was almost crushed when the pilot of the flight took off with him in front of the aircraft with some ground staff. They had to duck for the wing of the aircraft not to hit his head,” the FAAN spokesperson said.
The musician was eventually escorted away by the AVSEC crime unit and later released, pending further investigation.
FAAN reiterated its commitment to ensuring airport safety and stated that no form of misconduct by passengers—regardless of their social status—will be tolerated. “This matter remains under thorough investigation, and all parties found culpable will be held accountable according to the law,” the statement concluded.
The aviation incident has sparked discussions across the country, with many calling for more responsible conduct by celebrities and stricter enforcement of airport protocols.
