NTYTP Hails Appointment Of Chief Ogheneovo Edewor, Urges Political Parties To Deepen Internal Democracy

The Not Too Young To Perform (NTYTP) Leadership Development Advocacy congratulates Chief Ogheneovo Edewor on his appointment to the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), describing the development as a strong testament to the party’s sustained commitment to internal democracy and inclusive leadership.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of NTYTP, Arc. Bello Muhammed, the organisation commended the YPP for consistently demonstrating that political parties can uphold their constitutions, promote merit, and create platforms that recognise both experience and youth-driven innovation. NTYTP noted that Chief Edewor’s appointment reflects the values of credibility, service, and progressive leadership that the organisation advocates for across Nigeria’s political landscape.
“Chief Edewor’s elevation to the BOT is not only a recognition of his distinguished contributions to the YPP, but also a clear signal that internal party democracy remains a viable pathway for building credible and productive leadership,” the statement said.
NTYTP further urged all political parties in Nigeria—across ideological lines and sizes—to ensure strict compliance with their constitutions, transparent decision-making processes, and unwavering adherence to internal party democracy. According to the organisation, the health of Nigeria’s democracy depends largely on the ability of political parties to operate as effective training grounds for leadership, rather than as platforms controlled by a few powerful interests.
The statement also renewed NTYTP’s long-standing advocacy for deliberate youth inclusion within party structures, calling on all political parties to open their platforms to young people through clearly defined leadership pathways, mentorship windows, and strategic participation opportunities.
“We call on all political parties to create special spaces for young people to learn the art and act of leadership through structured participation in party organs and decision-making processes,” Arc. Muhammed said. “The YPP has demonstrated that this is possible, and we encourage other parties across the country to adopt and deepen similar reforms.”
NTYTP reaffirmed its commitment to promoting youth leadership development, strengthening democratic institutions, and supporting political parties that prioritise transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.
