Ahead of the forthcoming Local Government primary election across the 21 Local Government areas in Anambra State, the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi, has outlined her plans for a second term. She said she will focus on human‑capital empowerment for youths, men and women, and on the rehabilitation of rural roads.
During a recent statement, Mayor Amaka recalled her first tenure, noting that she oversaw the renovation of public schools, installed solar‑powered street lights in the seven communities, built solar‑powered boreholes, constructed a 700 meter road in Oba Estate, constructed doctors’ and nurses’ quarters, empowered umu Idemili through the skills acquisition programme among other capital projects. She added that, when re‑elected, she will give more attention to road rehabilitation for rural dwellers and continue empowering residents through skills and job programmes.
The Mayor also pledged to strengthen security to keep the people safe and reaffirmed her commitment to making Idemili South a model council. She announced a five‑pillar framework – Rural Road Rehabilitation, Human‑Capital Empowerment, Security, Health and Education – that will guide her second term.
Mayor Amaka assured all residents that good governance and the dividends of democracy will be shared by everyone in Idemili South.
