Anambra-born philanthropist, High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu (Ikemba Idemili) has called on the illustrious sons and daughters of Nnobi Community in Idemili South Local Government Area to pull their resources together towards ensuring that Nnobi Divisional Police Station becomes the best in Anambra State with state-of-the-art infrastructure and other necessary facilities.

He made the call on Friday when he paid a surprise visit with his amiable wife, Dr. Thelma Ezeonu (Osodieme), to celebrate the new year with the policemen at the Nnobi Police Station.

Ezeonu said that what prompted him to pay the surprise visit was the fact that security has improved significantly within Nnobi and environs since CSP Uchechukwu Asadu was posted to Nnobi Police Station as the Divisional Police Officer.

“Some other DPOs may come around and there will be trouble, war everywhere, but since CSP Asadu came, the atmosphere has been calm, showing that he is here to bring peace.”

“This visit today with my wife is the beginning of many more visits. I’m using this opportunity to call upon Ndi Nnobi residing anywhere all over the world to support the Police in our community.”

“Nnobi is our hometown, and it’s the Nigerian Police Force ensuring lives and property are safe. Once you’re in town, stop by and see the DPO. Know your Police officers; they are your friends. Know what they’re passing through; no amount is too small to assist them towards making our society a better place. Ask him how you can be of help. Because without them, we may not be enjoying the kind of peace we’ve been witnessing in the last few months.”

“If you’re waiting for the government to do everything for us, it’s not possible. It’s the people that must come together to see how they can make the job of security agents easier for them.”
“For instance, the DPO has requested that they need officers’ quarters for himself and his men so that they don’t have to be residing far away from here.”

“Also, Nnobi Police Station is in a mess. It’s not how a Police station should be, like Boko Haram-abandoned houses. I believe that with our new President General on ground, I think he should look into it. Our police station must be of standard. I think the PG’s security committee, in collaboration with stakeholders, should adopt a plan to make Nnobi Police Station one of the best in Anambra State.”
“When this Police station was attacked, we called on our Mayor, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi (Iyom Ifeabata), who came to secure this place with a perimeter fence. That’s why we’re asking for her to be reelected for a second term to continue her good works.”

“I’ve also done something. I had to make sure that I erected a Police tower to make sure that our officers can see what’s happening around them. The major reason it’s yet to be commissioned is because the main building in the police station can’t be in such a terrible condition and I’ll be commissioning the tower.”
“We need to renovate this building before all of them could be commissioned. I’m sure that’s why this police station is still in such a terrible state—because people don’t really know how bad the situation looks like. Our DPO isn’t happy, and we Ndi Nnobi have to make him happy.”

“My family and I are here to thank you for what you’ve been doing security-wise and all that you intend to do. May God continue to bless you all in Jesus’ name,” Ezeonu said.
Distributing gifts to officers, Ezeonu assured them that they wouldn’t be forgotten.
“We’re here to encourage everyone of you with bags of rice and other gift items,” he said.

The DPO, CSP Uchechukwu Asadu, and the DCO, DSP Ogbonna Uchechi, Nnobi police station, thanked High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu and his wife profusely for remembering the police officers, praying God to bless the couple abundantly.
“I’m very excited with this call Ikemba Nnobi is doing today, appealing to his people to come to our aid. This shows that Nnobi people are very supportive to make us happy. I appreciate the food and drinks Ikemba and his wife gave us to make us feel like others. The major problem we have here is logistics; there are no patrol vehicles here. As I’m talking to you now, we’re using a vigilante van, which isn’t the best, although we’re managing it that way,” said Asadu.
In their separate speeches, Makuachukwu Ezeh (Ezebunafo N’ Nnobi) and High Chief Afam Nwudo Odenigbo (Okanga Alor) said: “High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu is a humble philanthropist who is always looking out for what he can do to make his society a better place. See how he brought food and drinks with his wife to celebrate together with the officers. Everyone in this station today, including inmates, enjoyed the food and drinks. He later shared bags of rice and many gifts to the officers in the spirit of Christmas and New Year.
“To wrap it up, he conducted a facility tour to evaluate the deplorable state of the Police main building razed with fire by hoodlums during the EndSARS, with a resolve to call on Ndi Nnobi to renovate the building as soon as possible.”
