Idemili South Mayor, Hon. Obi Amaka Iyom, has extended heartfelt commendations to the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Mrs. Nonye Soludo, for her unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of the state’s children.
Mrs. Soludo’s initiative to introduce a Measles-Rubella vaccine advocacy programme has garnered significant praise from Mayor Obi, who recognized the profound impact this effort will have on protecting the state’s young population from these debilitating diseases.
The Mayor’s commendation highlights the importance of stakeholder engagement, particularly in areas with low vaccination turnout. Mrs. Soludo’s advocacy appeal targets parents, guardians, school heads, and religious leaders, urging them to allow children under their care to get vaccinated when the programme is fully rolled out. She has assured parents and caregivers that the Measles-Rubella vaccine is safe and highly effective, urging them to disregard false narratives and phobias surrounding vaccines.
Mayor Amaka praised Mrs. Soludo’s visionary role in prioritizing child health and taking proactive measures to safeguard their future.
“Mrs. Soludo’s advocacy appeal is a testament to her commitment to the well-being of our children,” the Mayor said. “By working together, we can ensure that every eligible child in Anambra State receives this life-saving vaccine and is protected from the risks of measles and rubella” she said.
The Mayor equally expressed her excitement about the refilling of Nonye’s Healthy Living Pap Banks in the 326 Wards across the 21 LGAs in Anambra State, a continuous exercise aimed at surpassing the current success rate of the fortified pap intervention.
The Mayor’s commendation is a testament to the impact of Mrs. Soludo’s initiative on the state’s child health landscape.
“As the state awaits the full rollout of the Measles-Rubella vaccine programme, the people of Anambra can look forward to a brighter future for their children, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Mrs. Nonye Soludo and her team, she concluded.”
