Iconic Chima Matthew Amadi: The Man Everyone Is Talking About

CAJETAN DUKE

There is a popular saying that “the only time people don’t talk about us is when we are not worth talking about.”

The foregoing high-minded aphorism, clearly implies that once someone is making the right impact or achieving something significant, people will definitely be discussing about such a person whether positively or negatively.

It is understandable that nobody can ignore the bride of the moment – Mazi Chima Mathew Amadi PhD – the man everyone is talking about. He is the man with proven preparedness, competence, clarity of vision and originality of thought.

Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi , is not only making significant impact with his organic and masses-tailored political movement, but also giving the outgoing government of Governor Hope Uzodimma, the deserved sleepless nights and cause to re-evaluate its priorities.

Of all the potential contenders for the 2027 gubernatorial election, none has received the kind of media attacks from the appointees of the “shared prosperity ” or rather “shared mediocrity” administration of Uzodimma like Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi.

Just this morning, my attention was drawn to another media attack turned free publicity on Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, by my friend and Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Electronic Media, Ambrose Nwogugwu.

Writing on the subject matter: “ANOTHER ALHAJI IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE” Ndi “Imo Say Never Again!” Ambu, as I called him since the days of his unjust incarceration by the same state government, veered off the highway without caution with his opening paragraph thus:

“They say history repeats itself—first as tragedy, then as farce. But in Imo State, history is threatening a third coming, not as either, but as a costume party, where agbada-clad strangers parade as “sons of the soil.” Enter Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi—or shall we say Alhaji Chima—whose fashion choices and governance philosophy are more at home in Sokoto than in Sam Mbakwe’s Imo.”

While I endeavoured to understand where he was coming from as well as where he is headed for, it was discovered that politics and political conversation in Imo has been brought down to an all-time low and nasty pedestrian level by the “shared mediocrity government”.

Today, we discuss individual’s choice of fashion as a prerequisite for leadership position, instead of the content of their character, track record, academic resume and history of boardroom experience. How did we get to this level?

Another thing that strikes me with amusement was Ambu’s attempt to condemn and trivialize Amadi’s market engagement where numerous market women have been empowered with money to improve their businesses – that smacks of envy and repulsive stupidity.

A government that is renowned for hoarding bags of rice and grains provided by the federal government as subsidy-removal palliatives, cannot talk of “almajiri government!”

If there is an “almajiri government’ in the history of Imo, that recognition and award should be reserved exclusively for the current government of Hope Uzodimma.

An administration that has impoverished and produced more poor people in government circles than it has empowered, cannot accuse anyone of planning to introduce “almajiri government.”

Infact, what we have in Imo today is nothing but an “Almajiri” kind of government. A one- man-band and one-man show!

Now, let me quickly bring my principal, Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, PhD into this conversation and why he is currently the most talked about personality in Imo State including Imo government house as the 2027 governorship election approaches.

Chima Matthew Amadi no doubt is a name that has been on everyone’s lips lately, and for good reasons. With an intimidating academic profile that boasts of astonishing nine degrees from reputable national and international academic institutions, Amadi has proven himself as a force to reckon with in terms of intellectualism. His academic prowess is matched only by very few individuals. His exceptional boardroom experience and practical knowledge of global leadership culture sets him apart, as he has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of politics, governance, economics, and leadership.

However, it is not just Amadi’s impressive academic profile and practical knowledge of politics and leadership that has got everyone talking.

Two years ahead of the next election, he has embarked on a paradigm shift in political conversation, subjecting his clear thoughts on governance to public debate. Recently in a well-attended town hall meeting held in Owerri, and aired live by two reputable national television (TV) stations in the country, Amadi, thrilled his audience with his vision and roadmap for a new Imo, as encapsulated in the SEE agenda, with emphasis on Security, Economy and Education.

His articulate and well-reasoned arguments resonate with many, particularly in Imo State, where the challenges of insecurity and poverty have left the people feeling overwhelmed.

Amadi’s demonstration of preparedness and clear-cut vision for making Imo safe again has struck a chord with the populace. His message is simple yet profound: that good governance, accountability, and commitment to the welfare of citizens are essential for the state’s progress.

It is a message that has been assimilated by the suffering and hungry Imo people, who are eager for a new leader that can deliver on promises and make the state a real heartland of prosperity and what’s more, Amadi’s approach has sent shivers down the spines of government officials, who have seemingly abandoned their core responsibilities of governance to concentrate on the activities of the Ngor Okpala-born nutritionist like evil monitoring spirits. It is clear that Amadi’s message is hitting home, and those in power are taking notice.

As the conversation around Amadi’s potential candidacy continues to gain momentum, one thing is clear: he is a man, who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and push for meaningful change. With his impressive academic credentials, boardroom experience, and commitment to good governance, Amadi is certainly a force to reckon with in Imo politics.

They say he has no political party but assuming that is a problem, it should be our headache and not theirs. Whichever party platform Amadi decides to stand on, is secondary but one thing certain is that his ideas, vision, and leadership style are permeating and have already sparked a new wave of hope and enthusiasm among the neglected people of Imo and as the state looks to a brighter future, Chima Matthew Amadi is undoubtedly the game changer and name to watch.
