A group, Concerned Amaechi Friends, said that their attention has been drawn to a recent report by Daily Trust TV, in which former Minister of Defence and elder statesman, General Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd), was quoted as criticizing Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, alleging a contradiction between his public pronouncements and personal lifestyle.
While reacting to the news report, Concerned Amaechi Friends said, “We wish to respectfully but firmly disagree with this characterization”.
“Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has consistently demonstrated integrity, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the Nigerian people throughout his years in public service. His distinguished record as a two-time Speaker, two-term Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation speaks volumes about his leadership, transparency, and patriotism.”
“Following the circulation of the report, Amaechi personally spoke with Senator Daisy Danjuma, wife of General Danjuma, to seek clarification. Senator Danjuma kindly stated that her husband did not make such a statement, suggesting that the publication may have been a misrepresentation or taken out of context.”
“While we continue to hold General Danjuma in high esteem for his contributions to national development, we strongly believe that the claims attributed to him in this instance are inaccurate and do not reflect the true character and values of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.”
“We urge that public commentary, especially from respected figures, be based on verifiable facts, fairness, and a shared commitment to national cohesion—rather than on speculation or unfounded narratives.”
“We remain proud of Rt. Hon. Amaechi’s service and will continue to stand by him as friends and true patriots.”
