Many years ago, Bayelsans were made to believe that Bayelsa State is under a spell.
There were stories of countless ritual sacrifices in government house and in most T-junctions in Yenagoa and it’s environ that are then hindering the growth and development of Bayelsa State.
Many Bayelsans were actually made to believe the cock and bull stories. A lot of Bayelsans never knew those tales were mere excuses to distract attention from the looting of Treasury and maladministration.
But today, the story under Gov. Douye Diri is entirely different. Unfolding events have shown that those who coined the concepts of miracle and prosperity that are attached to his name did so under the influence and instruction of the Holy Spirit.
A closer study of Senator Douye Diri reveals that he is a very unique person. His humility, unassuming nature, people, and development-oriented make him very exceptional. He is indeed a servant-leader that is never alienated from the masses. He does not see himself as a superior being, while those he is governing are less.
Before now, it was as if there were juju and demonic forces everywhere in the state that impeded growth and development.
They made Bayelsans in the hinterland and some streets like Opolo-Elebele road, PROSCO road, Airforce road, and others to be fasting and praying fervently.
We wanted Almighty God to do everything after giving us abundant human and natural resources.
The story of DIFFICULT TERRAIN ended the moment Gov. Douye Diri assumed office as governor.
At a time, Senatorial Roads became slogan and even anthem in Bayelsa State.
Fast forward, projects that were deemed impossible have all become very possible. The Nembe-Brass road, Ofoni-Ekeremor road, Yenagoa-Angiama-Oporoma-Otuan road, Polaku-Sabagria road, Igbedi road, Oxbow Lake-Agbura road, etc.
Gov. Douye Diri has built a 60-Megawatts gas turbine within a year for something that takes a minimum of 2years and more.
Gov. Douye Diri has built some of the best Technical Colleges in the country.
He is building a 25,000 capacity FIFA Standard Stadium.
He is building a 9-Storey New State Secretariat for civil servants.
He has successfully built a new Yenagoa City with well dualized roads everywhere.
We are also seeing the wonders that God is using him to perform on the phases 2 & 3 of the Glory Drive.
Under the ASSURED Prosperity Administration, we do not count the number of Concrete Rigid Pavement Roads because they are in their thousands everywhere in our towns and villages.
Besides breaking an enviable record as the First State that constructed and completed an independent power project, it is a generally agreed fact that Bayelsa State is presently the SAFEST STATE in Nigeria due to the effective Community Policing System of the state government.
Presently, Bayelsa State is competing favourably well with the developed states in Nigeria in the areas of Sports, Education and Health.
In all, we thank Almighty God for giving Douye Diri to Bayelsans as a generational leader.
It is our fervent prayer that he will finish very strong.
