Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has emerged through the fiery crucible of the bloody persecution of Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria. Denying genocide is futile because we see it everyday and everywhere all over the North. And then there is the indiscriminate killings of people of all faith in pursuit of mineral resources with people in government as active participants in search of blood money.
Clearly, there are two kinds of Christianity in Nigeria. The bread and butter, pancake faith we practice in the South. We are custodians of the faith that is a ‘covering’ for thieving public officials who then donate billions to enable us to afford the celebrity lifestyle of jets, limos, Rolls Royce and the building of giant stadiums, where we celebrate Mammon in the mistaken believe that it is Jehovah we are celebrating.
GOLD is fastened to their heartstrings instead of GOD.
The Christians in the North are being killed, harassed and in fear of their lives daily. Pastors in the North bury the members gruesomely killed by fundamentalist Islamists just as pastors in the South dedicate new cars, houses for their members. We are busy in naming and claiming riches and blessings while our brethren in the North are laying down their lives and defending the faith with their blood
“I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.”
Revelation 2:13 KJV
The Church in the South is obsessed with prosperity, entertainment and enjoyment. We are busy competing with celebrities in the public space. We are rich in a sea of poverty. We have become partners with politicians who are sucking the life out of the people. We will rather be politically correct than be caught telling truth to power. We want to be in the good books of the government rather than identify with our suffering brethren.
No Scripture describes the present Pentecostal situation in the South of Nigeria better than 2 Timothy 3:1-5
“But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of [sensual] pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of [outward] godliness (religion), although they have denied its power [for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith]. Avoid such people and keep far away from them.”
All murders are evil. Whether Christian, Muslim or any faith for that matter. The killings MUST stop.
Let me close with this prophetic warning from Amos 6:1 to our Southern Bishops/Apostles/Prophets etc
“Woe (judgment is coming) to those who are at ease and carefree in Zion (Judah) And to those on the mountain of Samaria who feel secure, The distinguished men of the foremost of nations, To whom the house of Israel comes”
