The Director-General/CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has described the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2025 as a key platform for driving sustainable development through local value addition and regional capacity building in raw materials.
Speaking at the Summit in Abuja on Tuesday, he emphasized that Africa’s rich deposits of critical minerals are vital for renewable energy and that the continent is well-positioned to lead an equitable energy transition. He called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to enhance energy security and economic growth.
The event was attended by the Honourable Minister of Transportation, representing Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology; Senator Saidu Alkali; Senator John Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment; along with Senators, House of Representatives members, royal fathers, and dignitaries.
Dr. Abdullahi noted ongoing efforts to locally process minerals like lithium and cobalt to support domestic production of solar panels and batteries.
