
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos, have arrested a driver, Adegboye Moshood, who allegedly stole N10 million cash and other properties belonging to his employer, Barr. Abbey Anibaba.
Cisca News reports that the Police alleged that the suspect committed the alleged offence after his boss travelled abroad. When his employer returned home, he could not find his driver while his phones were not going through.
He then reported the matter to the Police. The Police swung into action, tracked the suspect to a hideout in Lagos and arrested him.
After investigation, the suspect was dragged before the Igbosere Magistrate Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate Court on a count charge of stealing.
Police prosecuting Counsel, Reuben Solomon, told the Court in the charge marked L/35/2025 that the defendant committed the offence in May, 2025 in Lagos.
Solomon informed the court that the complainant travelled and left the defendant at home on trust. But that before he returned, the driver had stolen the cash he kept at home, alongside wrist watches, chains and brawlers which value is yet unknown and escaped before he was tracked and arrested.
He said the offence, the defendant committed was punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
His Lawyer, Barr. Anayo Agbo, prayed the Court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms promising that the defendant is married with children and would not jump bail if granted.
After listening, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.K Awoyinka, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two surties in like sum.
She adjourned the case and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till he perfects the bail conditions.
