Onitsha City experienced a total shutdown yesterday as DIG Benjamin Okolo, an illustrious son of the community, was initiated into the prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onicha Ado N’ Idu, taking the name Chinyelugo.
The ceremony, held at the Ime Obi Ogboza field, drew dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR; the Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora; the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency, Hon. Barr Mrs. Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe; the National Deputy Legal Advisor of APGA, Hon. Dr. Barr Harold Ekwerekwu; the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba; Gov Soludo’s Special Advisor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu; the APGA Chairman in Onitsha North LGA, Sir Okwy Maduekwe (Prof); Hon. Shedrack Okafor; Hon. Chiejina Obieze; and Hon. Ibegbu Chike, among many others.
Onitsha, as a community, celebrated this significant event with pride, showcasing the rich cultural heritage the town is known for.
