DEOLA ADEYEMI

In another significant political development reflecting the shifting momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, Coronet Obas, Baales and Market Leaders (Babalojas and Iyalojas) in Ogun West Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election, alongside Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) as their preferred governorship candidate for Ogun State.

This convergence, which took place on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026, at the Asade Agunloye Ground, signals more than an endorsement; it represents a coordinated political awakening driven by equity and performance.

At the heart of the declaration is a long-standing agitation: the quest for fairness and power balance in Ogun State. For decades, the governorship has rotated between other senatorial districts, leaving Ogun West on the margins despite its demographic strength and economic contribution.

Leading the charge, the Coronet Obas of Ogun West, in a separate gathering, expressed their firm backing for the President, emphasizing that continuity in leadership under Tinubu would consolidate ongoing reforms and deepen development across all sectors of the nation. They also stressed their unequivocal support for Senator Solomon Adeola YAYI, describing him as the “preferred and sole candidate for the governorship of Ogun State in 2027”. In their words, they stand “firmly behind his aspiration and pledge our collective support towards ensuring the realisation of a more progressive, prosperous, and united Ogun State under his leadership.”

Similarly, the Baales, speaking as custodians of grassroots authority, stressed that their endorsement was borne out of careful observation and a collective desire to align Ogun West with purposeful and result-driven leadership. They maintained that Senator Adeola YAYI possesses the experience and political will required to deliver a prosperous and equitable Ogun State.

“That all Baales, speaking in one voice, unequivocally declare, loud and clear, that Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, is our sole governorship candidate in Ogun West for the 2027 election,” the Baales declared in a communique read on their behalf by Chief Alade Adeniyi, Baale Agbawo, Igan-Okoto.

Chief Anthony Akinbode Asade, Baale of Idimota and Vice Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, added that the active participation of leaders from all corners of Ogun West demonstrates a shared vision and readiness to mobilize their communities behind a common goal.

For the market leaders, Babalojas and Iyalojas, the endorsement is rooted in economic realities. They described Senator YAYI as a leader who understands grassroots commerce and has demonstrated capacity to strengthen local economies through targeted interventions.

Highlighting the impact of Adeola’s initiatives, the Market Leaders Forum, led by the Babaloja of Yewaland, Chief Adewale Adeshina Sarandah and the Iyaloja of Yewaland, Chief Mrs. Yemisi Abass, affirmed that the improvements in market facilities had strengthened economic activities and created better opportunities for traders across the district. They also pledged to mobilize their extensive network of market stakeholders in support of his gubernatorial ambition, reinforcing his growing grassroots appeal and the confidence of Ogun West traders in his leadership capacity.

The endorsement drew an overwhelming attendance of Baales and Market Leaders from across all Local Government Areas of Ogun West, signalling a collective position cutting across communities throughout the district. It further reinforces a strategic alignment, linking continuity at the federal level with an equity shift at the state level.

It is indeed a defining moment in Ogun State’s political history, and at the centre of it all is Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the people’s choice. Ogun West stakeholders will sit on the fence no more. Learning from past experiences, they are determined to take their destiny into their own hands, actively participating in shaping the political future of the district.

The voice of the people is the voice of God, and across Ogun West, that voice is growing clearer and more resolute. We can state unequivocally, only Senator YAYI possesses the requisite capacity to lead Ogun West to her long-eluded dream.
