May 24, 2025, marked a momentous occasion – the 15th Convocation ceremony and 25th Anniversary of COO University Igbeariam. The air was alive with excitement as graduates, dignitaries, and esteemed guests gathered to celebrate a quarter century of academic excellence.
As Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the visitor to the university took the stage, memories flooded the mind of Hon Chike Anyaonu. Twenty-five years ago, Hon Chike was sworn in as Special Adviser on Legislative Matters and House of Assembly Liaison Officer. Little did he know that his role would be instrumental in shaping the future of countless individuals.
The Governor’s tribute to Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, the visionary founder of COO University, resonated deeply with Hon Chike Anyaonu. He recalled the debates, the passionate discussions, and the meticulous drafting of the law that would establish this esteemed institution.
As he gazed out at the sea of graduates, Hon Chike Anyaonu’s thoughts drifted back to those pivotal moments. He remembered the sleepless nights, the endless meetings, and the unwavering commitment to seeing the legislation through. The law’s passage was a testament to the power of collaboration and determination.
Today, as he looked out at the thriving university, Hon Chike Anyaonu felt an overwhelming sense of pride. The seeds sown 25 years ago had germinated, grown, and flourished. COO University has become a beacon of knowledge, a hub of innovation, and a launching pad for future leaders.
The ceremony was a poignant reminder that legislation can have a lasting impact on generations. Hon Chike Anyaonu’s role in shaping the university’s foundation had given countless individuals the opportunity to pursue their dreams, to grow, and to contribute to society.
As the graduates accepted their Diplomas, Bachelor’s degrees , Master’s Degree, Doctor of Philosophy and Honourary Doctors , Hon Chike Anyaonu’s heart swelled with joy. He knew that the legacy of Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju and the law that established COO University would continue to inspire and empower future generations.
At this moment, Hon Chike realized that his work 25 years ago was not just about passing a law; it was about building a foundation for a brighter future. And as he gazed out at the hopeful faces of the graduates, he knew that the best was yet to come.
It is interesting to note that Hon Chike Anyaonu had honed his skill in legislation and emerging as the best legislator in Anambra State House of Assembly for sponsoring and passing the highest number of bills in 1992.
